I agree. I would like to see them build a box where they have to send all stock market transactions. They would be held there for a (truly) random interval of between 0 and 10 seconds after which they are released to the market. I do not think high frequency trading serves any purpose other than to enrich a few Soros types.

Mic in remote is actually a pretty secure method of managing when it can eavesdrop on you. The remote does not have the processing or battery power for voice recognition or continuously transmitting a voice stream to a device that does. Not yet, anyway

Investing still involves buying and selling. You do that in the same market as these clowns, who like to locate their servers as close as possible to the exchange. Apparently, the speed of light factors into their trading strategy. If you don’t mind giving them a couple of bucks for doing nothing except being there every time you make a trade, then fine. I am not so tolerant of rent-seeking leaches.

Watching reruns of Perry Mason on MeTV with Closed Caption turned on can be funny when words such as "suspicious" and "cocktail" are rendered as "suXXXXious" and "XXXXtail" and characters named "Dick" or "Dickenson" are always referred to as "XXXX" or "XXXXenson". One I found particularly hilarious was when Paul Drake was going to go fishing for bass. . . and the CC rendered it as bXXX. On one episode, Mason commented that some bad guy "got hoist on his own petard." That got rendered as "hoist on his own peXXXX.” ROTFLM"XXX"O!
