Yes, the fraction of black coaches is lower than the fraction of black NFL players, but the skills to coach and to play are not exactly the same. Coaching takes more brains, and there is a difference in average IQ for whites and blacks.

This is perfect equality. Black coaches in the NFL now suck as badly as the white ones.
Dirk Koetter was fired too. He had a losing record for 3 years. “Logically”, he must be black.
I guess the only solution is offered by example in South Africa. Just hand over the teams owned by white males to a black ownership. Not sold it - given! That would solve all of the NFL’s problems.
I don’t really give a sweet eff what color NFL coaches are, as long as they make their teams stand for the National Anthem.

Stop it already with the f***ing race card NY Slimes. All of those firings were justified. In the case of Marvin Lewis it was long overdue. The ownership in Cincinnati gave him more than enough chances to get the Bungles to be a top echelon team in the AFC and he failed. Does anyone doubt if Lewis were white he would of been fired years ago?
A coaching position in the NFL is a high profile job with many critics, especially the fans. You either produce or you will be looking for a job. Affirmative action hiring doesn’t work in high profile positions like coaching where one bears the brunt of responsibility. That said, Tony Dungee ranks as one of my most admired football coaches.
That’s the problem with hiring blacks - once you do it better be for life.
You may get called racist if you don’t hire them, but you are sure to be called a racist if you fire them. The safer practice is to make them a finalist, then hire the white guy.
It is curious that they usually only fire coaches with losing seasons and seldom fire coaches with winning seasons.
Ironically, that seems to apply to both white and black coaches.
