These men took Afghan in a matter of days. The Marines f’d things up. You cannot send regular infantry troops or marines in on UW situations.
Bullsquirt. The SF northern alliance deal did what it did. But after that, they could do little else. The Marines certainly did not F things up.
As for UW, that has never worked anywhere. UW is what F-ed things up. Infantry and Marines have a long history of success that Spec ops is utterly unable to match, despite today’s hit movies.
All Sf could give us was a country where Karzai stole hundreds of millions of dollars and left them ready for a Taliban return. It wasnt grunts that created that situation... it was COIN and the COIN UW mentality.

For example, although there was a time for a French alliance with mutual support for military defense, he disapproved of one French ambassador organizing American demonstrations for supporting France (foreign emissary meddling in U.S. politics).
The main problem with trying to establish an absolute against allies for warfare with Washington’s arguments, is that it wouldn’t have allowed us to do what we did in each of two world wars. Without preparation in advance with a large military force, allies, entrance and victory in those wars, we would have been invaded, occupied and enslaved.

I’m sorry, but I listened when previous Secretaries of Defense spoke, I have yet to be interested in what Mattis says.
And I can’t identify exactly why.
