Bullsquirt. The SF northern alliance deal did what it did. But after that, they could do little else. The Marines certainly did not F things up.
As for UW, that has never worked anywhere. UW is what F-ed things up. Infantry and Marines have a long history of success that Spec ops is utterly unable to match, despite today’s hit movies.
All Sf could give us was a country where Karzai stole hundreds of millions of dollars and left them ready for a Taliban return. It wasnt grunts that created that situation... it was COIN and the COIN UW mentality.
It’s not really the fault of SF or conventional forces. It’s more on the leadership for sending us in without a clear, decisive, overwhelming plan to annihilate the enemy within X number of months.
