I like it that he is recognizing he has a job to do ... Kind of like the Military etc that CAN’T be ‘home’ with their families.
No problem, he can fly down to Celebrate MLK Day.
I remember a shutdown that occurred during Obama’s reign of terror when federal employees were expressly ordered to “make it hurt “. That was apparently okay with the media. I am avoiding any news about this shutdown which is a non-event.
His family just returned to the White House so he won’t be alone for Christmas!

The optics of Trump at Mar-a-Lago while Federal employees are on furlough would be awful.
They said it was always their tradition to go to Hawaii at Christmas...lol ...only became tradition when he had Air Force One to take them there...it was never tradition before...and looks like it is not Christmas in Hawaii, as usual for the Obama’s...

Especially since going would mean the media would plaster the airwaves with pictures of Trump golfing surrounded by Secret Service agents who aren't getting paid.
Barron probably enjoying his extended family, maybe some friends down there from school too.
I totally respect how much his parents keep him out of the national spotlight.
More to the point, he probably realizes the field day the MSM would have if he were down there while the government is “shut down”.
