he Supreme Court won’t let the Trump administration begin enforcing a ban on asylum for any immigrants who illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border.
New Justice Brett Kavanaugh and three other conservative justices sided with the administration.
The court’s order Friday leaves in place lower court rulings that blocked President Donald Trump’s proclamation in November automatically denying asylum to people who enter the country from Mexico without going through official border crossings.
Trump said he was acting in response to caravans of migrants making their way to the border.
The administration had also complained that the nationwide order preventing the policy from taking effect was too broad.
But Chief Justice John Roberts and the court’s four more liberal justices rejected the administration’s suggestion for narrowing it.

Somebody has got Roberts by the jewels …. really got something on him... probably with pictures.
So we’ve now seen enough to conclude that Roberts is the new swing vote. I wonder if we’ve ever had a Chief Justice who was also the swing vote. It’s quite a powerful position to be in. Probably what Roberts has been coveting all along.

You know, right? by pulling stuff like this you’re admitting you’ve committed some very nasty deeds in your past and the Deep State has the blackmail goods on you.
Roberts could easily be giving Kav cover.
Maybe in the future Kav will reciprocate.

The silver lining is that Kavanaugh came down to the right of Roberts, thereby ceding the swing vote to him. I was concerned that Kavanaugh might have coveted the swing vote for himself.
“Until/unless Ginsburg dies and Trump can replace her without someone to render Roberts irrelevant, we’re screwed.”
Souter may also be on the chopping block along with Sotomayor with her T1 Diabetes. At least there are a couple of alternatives to Ginsberg departing soon.

My question exactly, though I’m sure her clerks spoke up for her. I think they’ve been doing her job for a long time. Doubt that’s strictly legal, but you know they have to have been. Obviously, Roberts is out to get President Trump. I’ll be glad when Trump settles all scores. Roberts has either been compromised, or he’s just a nevertrumper. Disgusting situation.

Why should not Roberts support the Liberals? He is one of them. He proved that with his stance on obamacare. What does he have to for people to believe him? Take out an ad in the paper?
Trump has the UAAC disease and has “grown in office.” Kavanaugh shows signs he may be also infected.
Trump has to get two more USSC appointments to be somewhat sure of a Conservative majority for a while.
The safety of Americans come first, more important than keeping traitor Robert’a sealed adoption details secret.
