• Its founder, Brian Kolfage, previously ran a Facebook page — as well as several related websites — that was kicked off the platform in October for what Facebook described as "inauthentic activity."
• When asked why he didn't mention his past on the GoFundMe page, Kolfage told NBC News he "didn't want it to be a distraction."
• Trump has struggled to get funding for a wall from Congress and has threatened to force a government shutdown over the issue.
