A third of natural-born Americans are thinking about packing up and living elsewhere outside the United States but it may not be for the reason you think, a new study finds.
Researchers from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom and Tufts University in the U.S. say that the most popular reason (87.4 percent) to give life a shot in another country is the simple desire to explore the world. Surprisingly, whether a person identifies as liberal or conservative politically had no correlation to their hopes of moving overseas.
While one might think that ideological orientation plays a role, at least in this pre-Trump survey, we found out that it did not, at least not directly, says Dr. Amanda Klekowski von Koppenfels, of Kents Brussels School of International Studies, in a release.
Yet while politics didnt have a direct link, the authors found that those who didnt feel very strongly about their national identity were also more likely to leave.

Oh BS....How much this Grant worth?
Please ... Please!!! Go. Venezuela has nice weather. Cuba might treat you nice for a while if you have money. If you want Europe, how about Malmo?
Yeah, but where to go?
American society can seem corrupted beyond repair, so one thinks about doing the pilgrim thing.
But where to go?
Places where you have absolutely NO RIGHTS ?
Funny how that works.
Assume it is mostly liberals so..........go ahead, pack up and leave!
So, go already.
I live outside the U.S.5-6 months a year. Bona fide redneck patriot!
Bull hockey. These a&& wipes think others give a crap. These dimwits arent going anywhere. The ones that do? Good riddance!
LOL! Mrs. rktman used to write grants so...........
Buh bye. I’m a first generation American who has no intention of ever moving to another country.
LOL! I’ve been a few places in my life and still, like Dorothy, there ain’t no place like home. If you don’t care about your liberties, then by all means, bon voyage to them.
A lot of people say they would love to live in Tahiti or wherever. But when they look at the costs and logistics involved, they figure out pretty quick that they’re better off where they are.
I bet the results are inversely proportional to those who have traveled a lot abroad
One of my sisters moved to Spain by the ocean and loves it - she wanted an adventure.
Just like all libs/dems, all promises, no cattle.
I was going to say ‘How about Shangri-La?’ then I remembered that it never really existed. Only as a name of motels and tiki bars.
A Sign I read while visiting overseas,
“Leave your money, go home!”
Most people who desire to live overseas have at best vacationed overseas but most have never been outside their home state for a vacation.
The greatest benefit of overseas travel is the realization of how good you really have things back home.
Be careful what you wish for! You might get it.
