The White House wants to avoid a partial government shutdown and has found other ways to get the border wall President Trump is demanding, spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Tuesday.
Sanders’ comments come four days before large portions of the federal government will begin shutting down unless Congress and Trump act first.
Trump has been demanding $5 billion from Congress for his border wall, which Democrats refuse to give.
But Sanders told Fox News Channel: “We have other ways that we can get to that $5 billion.”
“At the end of the day we don’t want to shut down the government, we want to shut down the border,” Sanders said.
Sanders said the White House was exploring other funding sources and believed it could be legally done.

Am I wrong, or didn’t our President look us in the face and say that if Congress didn’t give him the money for the wall he’d close the Government down?
And didn’t he say a year or so ago “I’m never signing a budget like this again” if the wall funding wasn’t in there?
It seems he doesn’t have the balls to stand up to the deep state vermin after all. What a major disappointment.

Could’ve gone “other ways” day one. Not buying it.
Any “other way” will be run through the courts like every other exec action that’s actually good for the country and bad for the swamp.

WAPO and CNN running with the “POTUS slinks away with his tail between his legs” story. I find it difficult to believe that POTUS would allow that impression, especially from these two liar news outlets.

Yes, I think I’ve come off too hard on Trump. That is correct...it is also the nature of politics in America (disorientation).
I think it is absolutely true in this nation today that it is impossible to get anything of substance done, if it requires more than one branch - or even one person for that matter - to do it. Trump came to Washington as a revolutionary figure (as opposed to an establishment figure) and without a party or any kind of establishment political base of support. So he has to operate as a revolutionary figure because he cannot operate within the system. I’m not sure anyone can at this point in our nation’s history.
But, in truth, Trump is a builder and a manager, he makes deals, works hard and is extremely efficient. But that’s not Washington D.C. At all. Trump is not a revolutionary. Unfortunately, where we are in this nation requires a revolution...or we will simply descend, via incompetence or sloth, into full-on Marxism. That’s where we are headed, quickly. Trump was the right man, he’s here at the wrong time.

Perhaps. There was one statement by Trump that gave Schumer a nice opening — “well if the Mexicans are going to pay for the wall then we don’t need to fund it”. While we all know the nuanced truth — Schumer used the meeting to make a nice soundbite.
