President Trump clearly shocked House speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi and Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer yesterday with his televising of the Oval Office sit-down over his demand for $5 billion in funding for border security, including funding of critical mileage for his border wall. Knowing well that Pelosi had already vowed publicly that "transparency and openness" would characterize the Democrat-run House starting next month, her plaintive request to speak in private scored points for Trump and revealed her hypocrisy before any substance at all was considered.
The remarkable body language during the meeting tells the story of Trump's dominance. Here is the full video of the press gaggle, via Grabien:
That was merely the first of three traps Trump had prepared for the Democrats' congressional leadership.
Trump's second trap is his bold declaration of ownership of any "government shutdown." Democrats have convinced themselves that what is called a "shutdown," but really means furloughing non-essential federal workers, is a tragedy, a scar on the nation's psyche. The fact that federal workers are now a major and solid constituency for Democrats skews their perception of the public's concern. Aside from canceling sleigh rides in national parks and other such photo drama, the fact is that life goes on well for nearly all Americans during the furlough. They learn that there are a lot of non-essential government workers.
After multiple shutdowns, including the last one that bore the label "Schumer Shutdown" and was quickly conceded by the Democrats, the public is no longer afraid of non-essential services (roughly 25% of the government) being temporarily suspended.
Chuck Schumer took the bait on the second trap, and after the Oval Office meeting, he employed triumphantly the term "Trump Shutdown" as if he had won a victory through Trump's surrender.

Trump is 1-0 in elections in which he is an actual participant. The elections for other offices are the contests of other people in individual congressional districts or states, each with their own advantages, flaws, issues, and history.

Trump needs to call ryan and warn him that if he or any of his Kochheads vote against the wall, they will be blacklisted from lobbying his Administration for as long as he remains in office. that's the WH and all cabinet departments -- CUT OFF -- for at least 2 years. Tens of millions in income GONE.

I absolutely LOVE what Trump did to them yesterday. He just owned them, and the way he did it is the very reason that he was elected - to stick it right down the throats of the DC establishment. Good on the POTUS, keep it up!

Chuck and Nancy still think in an era of ‘political speak’ gone by.....all things are new and they’re still unable/unwilling to catch up!
Just a notation.....whenever Pelosie’s arms and hands start waving you know she’s highly irritated with whoever she’s speaking with or to and trying to control the situation.
I’ve noticed when she’s in trouble while speaking her hands and arms wave a lot. That is a signal she is out of control of any situation she wants control of. She never stopped waving throughout those 17 minutes. She was being “Trumped” and she knew it.
No one would notice.
I've often said that if I became governor, I would fire everyone with an even employee identification number and no one would notice except for the deli owners near government buildings.

The only “trap” I’m interested in, and waiting for, is the reference to the “trap-door” in the middle of a platform and hinges wearing out rapidly...
When Trump wins this and gets a wall someone will have to run to Lil Annie Menopause house nail the windows and shut off the gas to keep her from offing herself in despair.

Took the wind right out of their sail...it was bold and exactly the right thing to do....POWERFUL is right.....he said so as well. I loved it when he said he’d be PROUD to wear that Mantel....wonderful ‘seeing’ and ‘hearing’ the real power behind this President.

A lot of them are Marxists. When they first came to the US border some of them shouted “We are workers of the world!” Hmm, who uses that kind of action. And just now, they are claiming reparations based upon allegations of exploitation of Honduras. Yeah, they are not seeking asylum; I believe many want to get into America to destroy it.
I gotta think that the progressive wing of the democrat party that thinks these old white people aren’t up to the job were even more disappointed after this performance. Cryin’ Chuck sitting there shakin’ his odd-shaped head like he could not wait to get the hell outta there, and Nutty Nan babbling about going private and cutting a deal...without one word about free stuff!
The only thing funnier would be imagining that same scene with Ocasio-Cortez in Nancy’s seat...
