President Trump confirmed he will nominate former attorney general William P. Barr to lead the Justice Department again, telling reporters Friday that Barr was “my first choice since day one.”

He also said he would nominate Heather Nauert as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, saying the State Department spokeswoman, a relative novice on foreign policy, is “very talented, very smart, very quick.”

The marks of that have been shown in foreign policy for a long time. I hate to see it on the domestic side too, where there has been progress.

There was a Bush running, if we had wanted that. Very few did.

It is frustrating as hell that one week Trump will tweet a cartoon of every corrupt gov official behind bars, where they belong(or worse).

Then a week later nominate a guy who doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of doing anything about said corrupt officials.

Can he possibly be worse than Rip Van Sleepy(Sessions)?

It is possible. He might be another mole, and more energetic. Hopefully he’ll do an honest job.

At this point, skepticism in appointments is justified, hope it works out.

Trump seems to keep hoping

You seem to think Trump is still sincere. What if he isn't? What if he's wised up that he bit off a lot more than he can chew by making promises he couldn't keep. What if Trump has finally realized that in order to actually achieve MAGA, he'd literally have to declare a state of emergency and call out the militia - just like Lincoln did around 150 years ago.

At some point, no matter how strong one insists on denial, if it quacks like a duck, it really is a duck. An objective observer would reasonable conclude that the Don is now in phoning it in mode. He needs political support to withstand actually being removed, so perhaps a quiet understanding has been reached that he will leave without a fight in 2 years.

I don’t care as much about this loyalty to the president as his loyalty to the Constitution, the Republic, and the rule of law.

Well I usually say that it can always be worse ... but probably not in this case. :-) Hopefully it works out.

I wouldn’t blame PDJT one bit if he decides not to run for POTUS 2nd term! The guy is trashed non-stop, even by the holier than thou “conservatives” on this forum!

The creeps on this site trashing Trump would’ve folded their 1st year!

For some reason it escapes many conservatives that our allegiance must be to the Constitution of these United States of Americe, NOT any President. Even Trump, whom I admire.

Yeah. Seems like The Gang has told him, OK, you won, but we’re going to keep the heat on you with Mueller and the Schiff committee BS, but if you hire our guy to run DoJ, we’ll back off.

Barr’s job will be to keep a lid on all the bad stuff DoJ has actually been doing for the last 15 years, especially under the Alien.

Too funny - he picked Session on his own personal promises and solid backing during the campaign...before he was embroiled in the true ugliness of political backstabbing and incompetence....if you don’t think Trump has learned a thing or two over the last 2 years, then you haven’t been paying attention...when their time comes, his past mistakes are being shuffled out.

I don’t know about Elaine Chao. She herself does nothing but appointing her seemed to have caused the Grinch effect in her husband, Mitch McConnell. Whereas beforehand his testicles were two sizes too small, after Trump his testicles grew three sizes that day! As a bonus he now seems to have the strength of ten RINO’s plus two.

Loyalty to the constitution and the rule of law is the only thing I’m looking for. That loyalty we have not seen in the DOJ or AG office in at least 10 years. With this nomination what makes you think anything will change at DOJ? If this AG applies the law equally I will overjoyed, I just don’t expect it. To protect the constitution the AG would have to prosecute the felons from the DOJ and FBI who have flaunted the rule of law for so long.
