Obama-era FBI leadership team hollowed out, after latest retirement

Another top FBI official who helped oversee the Trump-Russia and Clinton email investigations is retiring, as the last traces of the bureau's embattled leadership team that once stood under Barack Obama's presidency disappear.

The official, Bill Priestap, will retire from his post as assistant director of the FBI’s counterintelligence division by the end of the year.

“Assistant Director Bill Priestap became eligible to retire and has chosen to do so after 20 years of service,” an FBI spokesperson told Fox News on Wednesday.

Priestap, who participated in the bureau’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server and the FBI’s initial probe into Russian meddling and potential collusion with Trump campaign associates during the 2016 presidential election, has testified before Congress on multiple occasions regarding the bureau’s handling of both investigations.

They still need to bore down. A lot of work still to do.

Trump should have fired them all the first day he took office.

The leadership is gone but nobody’s in jail despite the rampant nefarious and illegal activities to undermine the election and the subsequent administration of a President. That means they’re winning.

IMO the FBI is corrupt all the way down. It seems to posses a culture of leftist/state-st corruption. I say get rid of it and give the actual crime investigative mission to the US Marshals and the counterespionage mission to DOD or DHS( you pick).

It makes me wonder (although I’m not this naive) if the war on the corruption in the last election is a quiet one, and the boring down has been going down all along, and those were involved are being told they need to walk before we make it public and it gets ugly.

As I said, I don’t buy my own bull, but if it were true, the order-takers (even those nearer to the top) who were just afraid for their career need to make deals now while the big fish are slowly getting closer to the fire.

When you restore damages furniture/floors you have to cut, sand and remove all the damaged wood. You can’t leave one speck of grayed rotten wood. It takes time.

When I think of the things we have learned about the FBI and DOJ over the last two years I can't even begin to imagine how much really bad stuff is going on in those agencies that we will never know about.

I'll be the things they know about the Clintons, the Obamas and many of the nasties in congress and the media (republicans included), would fill a library and clog the courts for years.

That’s a heck of a metaphor.

Some people value imperfections though. However, that usually applies to knots and idiosyncrasies in wood grain, not rot. Specs can be removed and filled, but patches and sections of rot need to be replaced which either requires matching or wholescale replacement. Metaphorically speaking, that means entire divisions need to go, if not revamping the whole agency. Not sure if that’s what you were leading to though.

translation: The Senate is about to FINALLY be forced into recess. And a whole fleet of Trump recess appointments is coming.

It took hundreds of personnel to carry out the attempted coup. The notion that only a handful of leaders were corrupt is nonsense. I cringe every time I hear Hannity blame it on a few people at the top. The corruption is widespread with many of the personnel involved still in place. I fear they will never be held accountable.

Trump will have to move at the speed of light to make a recess appointment. McConnell will keep the current senate in session until one minute prior to the new senate opening.

There will be no opportunity for recess appointments.

I won't be satisfied unless they ALL are hollowed out while strapped down and screaming: "Freedom!" (Just like the movie...)

Oh wait! Communists would be screaming: "Stalin is great!" or "Save me Barack"...
