New York (CNN Business)The fate of The Weekly Standard, the conservative magazine that has staked out a position as a publication on the right still critical of President Donald Trump, is uncertain, Editor-in-Chief Stephen Hayes told staff in a series of phone calls Tuesday, according to two people familiar with the matter.
The magazine's precarious position comes after its leadership spent months searching for a buyer, the people told CNN.
The people explained that The Weekly Standard's leadership had butted heads with MediaDC, the current parent company of the magazine, and that the two parties had agreed to allow Hayes to search for a new owner.
However, MediaDC recently informed The Weekly Standard's leadership that the company was no longer interested in a sale, the people said.

Real brilliant move by the Weekly Standard setting itself up as a never-Trump rag.
IMO, this is front page news.
Two biggest scumbag outfits, Weakly STD and NR
Let Soros fund it. It is a NeoCon globalist propaganda source, it advances his cause/beliefs.
Bill kristol can be CNN’s Conservative token if he will disavow everything except his hatred for Trump.
the problem is that nobody reads magazines anymore
those with the intellect to read access online sources
I’d say writing a book “proving” that Iraq was responsible for 9/11 and claiming that Iraq was behind the anthrax attacks in a dishonest effort to start a war that’s lasted 16 years is a little worse than being a never-Trumper. Hayes, Kristol & the rest will receive justice someday.
Now, for the NYSlimes and CNN.
[Deep State Blues.]
yep
I parked my BMW in Manhattan with an issue of Newsweek and an issue of The Weekly Standard on the dashboard.
When I returned, the driver’s window had been smashed and there were 5 more copies of The Weekly Standard and 5 more copies of Newsweek.
Insurance will pay for the window. But when I find who left those extra copies.....
Best news I’ve heard all day. Thanks for the post!
The Standard was, from the start, a neo-con rag....sadly Bush 43 was the dupe they needed.
Don’t be surprised if some liberal buys it and lets it continue as a ‘conservative’ magazine.
“Now if only Fox would drop..”
Could have stopped there.
They had more money than National Review so their coverage was wider and deeper than NR's.
I definitely won't go on a cruise now.
Kristol might sink the boat to collect on the insurance.
Go ahead. You can say it.
Payback is a Joy Behar.
I’ve never understood these ideological purists with their snobby attitudes towards anyone they deemed to be unworthy of their support because they didn’t have what they considered to be proper bonafide to join their elitist club. Even when Trump accomplished goals they had been trying to attain since before Reagan they still reject his nationalist approach to governance.
Canceled subscription years ago, when they started promoting “national greatness conservatism” aka neocon socialism
These guys never wanted to attain any of that. They wanted it all just slightly out of reach so wed keep buying their mags and donating to and voting for their pet politicians.
