PARIS "Yellow Jacket" protesters blocking access to 11 fuel depots belonging to one of the world's biggest oil companies have left gas stations running dry in France.
At least 75 of the company's 2,200 gas stations were out of fuel, a spokesman for energy giant Total said Monday.
For more than two weeks, protesters angry over gas taxes and the high cost of living have been blocking roads across France, impeding access to fuel depots, shopping malls and some airports.
Riot police were overrun on Saturday as protesters brought chaos to Paris' fanciest neighborhoods, torching dozens of cars, looting boutiques and smashing up luxury private homes and cafes in the worst disturbances the capital has seen since 1968.
More than 100 people were injured in the French capital and 412 arrested over the weekend.
The "Yellow Jacket" revolt erupted on Nov. 17 and poses a formidable challenge to President Emmanuel Macron as he tries to counter a plunge in popularity over his economic reforms, which are seen as favoring the wealthy.
The "Yellow Jacket" activists are named after the neon vests French drivers are obliged to carry in their vehicles in the case of roadside emergencies.
The movement began online as an impromptu rebellion against higher fuel prices but has morphed into a broader outpouring of anger over the squeeze that living costs are putting on middle-class household budgets.
Their core demand is a freeze on further planned tax increases on gas and diesel the next is due in January and measures to help bolster spending power.
But many have also called for Macron to quit.
Public support for the "Yellow Jackets" remains high, with seven-in-10 people backing their protest, according to a Harris Interactive opinion poll conducted after Saturday's unrest.

I was born in 1968
I hope I wasn’t the cause of the last riots :)
As long is this is REAL French people, it is a good start.
I wonder what percentage of French folks are behind them.
How do W European leaders always seem to have .5 percent approval ratings but then win reelection? :)
There’s absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever that raising taxes prevents global warming.
Collectivists have a zillion excuses for every failed idea. You could sooner convert a jihadi to Christianity than get them to wake TF up.
Raising gas taxes INCREASES Global Warming.
Look at all those burning cars! The CO2, by golly!
(I greatly suspect legitimate “Yellow Jacket” protesters against gas tax increases are regularly overwhelmed by muslims who just want to riot against Western Civilization and steal stuff. It’s just too politically incorrect to report that....)
Actually, via Merkel’s push for open borders and accepting more ‘migrants’, Germany is actually promoting another invasion of France. This time, France, for its part, is complicit.
I didn’t want to burst bubbles here but I’ve seen many black folks in the pictures and jumping on cars etc.
But they would never be called muzzies.
They are “French”
I hope I wasnt the cause of the last riots
Quite the contrary
Your good parents were under cover
not partaking of riotous actions.
I’m of the opinion that Europe got the government(s) it deserves.
I wonder, what would Trump do?
Yeah.....just like us.
RE: Theres absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever that raising taxes prevents global warming.
Their warped reasoning seems to be — raising fuel taxes will discourage drivers from buying conventional cars that ran on fossil fuels ( e.g. oil ). This will then cause users to purchase more environmentally friendly cars ( e.g. Hybrids and Electric ), and doing so will, reduce burning of carbon, which will of course help to prevent global warming and climate change.
The elite think in terms of what could happen a century from now, but the poor ordinary folks think of it in terms of how it affects their livelihood today.
Just messengered with friend in Kingersheim FR between Colmar and Mulhouse near the Rhine. Small village vibe, love the place. They have demonstrations but as you might imagine in ams all town, peaceful. She days its the carbon tax AND all taxes. Taxes are generally high already and the civ added the carbon BS on top.
you must be tired, CITIZEN.
Yes, just like us (collectively.)
With that massive and capable EU Army.
"...they are French..."
Yeah man, we can’t completely believe our eyes in what we are reading and hearing because we just dont know what percentage of the rioters are French of muzzies.
I can’t tell from the pictures.
Maybe some others saw better images.
> Germany should invade. The Maginot Line wont slow them down at all. <
Interestingly enough, one Maginot Line fortress is still active. It’s Ouvrage Hochwald. Considering the pitiful state of today’s German army, Ouvrage Hochwald alone might be enough to turn back an invasion.
