Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris of California announced on Saturday that she will make a decision about whether she will launch a presidential bid in 2020 by the end of this year.
Its a very serious decision, Harris told Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski during an onstage conversation at the Know Your Value conference in San Francisco. Over the holiday, I will make that decision with my family.
Harris, whose husband joined her in the audience, said she is keenly aware of the challenges a barrier-breaking campaign will entail.
Lets be honest. Its going to be ugly, Harris said. When you break things, it is painful. And you get cut. And you bleed.
Harris also expressed frustration over the slow progress of the Secure Elections Act, which she introduced in March, along with co-sponsor Republican Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma. The bipartisan legislation would give the Department of Homeland Security responsibility for ensuring secure elections and shoring up election infrastructure against cyber attacks, and would establish an independent advisory panel of experts to develop guidelines on election cyber security.
Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, who currently serves as the leader of the Senate, has not yet brought the legislation to the floor for a vote. Harris said she has been told that is at the White Houses request.
First of all, lets be clear about the fact Russia did interfere in the [2016] election of the president of the United States, Harris told Brzezinski. Flawed though it may be, we designed a beautiful system of democracy, and one symbol of that is that we have free and open elections. When a foreign government chooses to manipulate our democracy knowing that would compromise our strength and our perception of our strength, you would think leaders would say No, we are going to do everything we can to strengthen and to give ourselves the immunity we need to be free from that kind of manipulation. Yet, its not happening.
Harris also addressed the legacy left by former President George H.W. Bush, who died Friday at 94.
He is a symbol and an example of the nobility of public service, Harris said. I didnt necessarily agree with every policy he promoted, but I completely respect and Im in awe of the dedication he gave to his country and service. What we want most in our public officials is that we respect that when they make decisions, they do it based on what they truly believe is in the best interest of other people, not themselves.
Skanka is in distant 3rd place (9%) behind Crazy Bernie(13%) and Crazy Uncle Joe (33 %) in terms of who the Rats favor for 2020 POTUS nominee.
The thing about Skanka is that she is as narcissistic and UNLIKABLE as Kankles as a very nasty Rat woman. On top of that, Skanka will play the race card 200 times a day. Shes a race-baiting mulatto Hillary! What a GREAT commander in chief shell be, LMAO!
Go for it, Skanka, it will be fun kicking your Willie Hoe @ss!
Run ho-bag run! Willie Brown’s ho-bag.
Trump must know this and it would fit so well with a tweet Kamala, you are no more eligible than Don, Jr.
She is giving Occasional Cortex a good run for her money as dumbest member of Congress. So what on earth does this piece of stupid racist garbage think she could do for the American people except Odungo-type destruction?
Was Ivana not a citizen when his kids were born? I honestly do not know.

___________
Good question. I didn’t know either, so I looked it up. Ivana became a US citizen in 1988..well after the birth of Don jr, Eric and Ivanka. The three children are ineligible to be elected POTUS or VP.
Technically perhaps. But the precedent has been set. Regardless, no more Trumps for President. I abhor political dynasties.
There will be MANY serious challenges to her Article II eligibility. The response will be either ridicule, disregard, or hostility from most of those entities, including the courts, with a responsibility to adjudicate the matter.
Whether President Trump believes it or not, the only one of his children that is an Article II natural born citizen is Barron Trump.
Legal fact is not a matter of subjectivity.
We’ve been over this before, but:
Both of my grandfathers were born to foreign nationals, one in Connecticut and the other in Brooklyn. Neither of my grandfathers ever went through a naturalization procedure.
Both registered for the draft in 1917. Their draft cards had three options for citizen status: Natural-born, naturalized, or alien. They checked “natural born” (of course).
So, if one can only be natural-born or naturalized (or an alien), and my grandfathers were not naturalized despite having German and Irish parents - that would mean, according to you, that my father (and my mother) were also not natural born, despite being born in New York City in 1923 and 1924, and that therefore I am also not natural born, since my parents were never naturalized.
This leads to an absurd conclusion.
Are you saying that the draft cards issued in 1917 with three categories of citizen status were wrong to describe a person born in the US as “natural born”? Are you aware of any individuals, ever, who were born to persons legally residing in the US but of foreign nationality who were after they were born were required to naturalize?
You are proposing, I think, a fourth category of “citizen at birth, but not natural born”. Do you have any examples of such a person?

They were anchor babies, naturalized by an act of Congress.
my grandfathers were not naturalized despite having German and Irish parents
They were granted citizenship by a misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment. It was actually meant to only grant citizenship to the children of slaves. (and not even American Indians)
my father (and my mother) were also not natural born, despite being born in New York City in 1923 and 1924, and that therefore I am also not natural born, since my parents were never naturalized.
The government recognized your grandfathers' anchor baby status (naturalized) so all your parents were natural citizens....as are you.
...draft cards issued in 1917 with three categories of citizen status were wrong to describe a person born in the US as natural born?
They checked the wrong box.

Your grandfathers.
Did either of your grandfathers ever run for President?
What act of Congress was that?
Trump will blow her out of the water. It’s like the 1984 election all over again.
Neither were Bobby Jindahl, Little Marco, Mia Love, Nikki Haley nor Cubanadian Beautiful Ted.
14th Amendment.
So, she avoids being black by being Jamacian.
What a superficial distinction.
Citizen at birth was specifically rejected by the founders in favor of the more restrictive natural born citizen.
