Harvard Grad Student Facing Eviction over Legally Owned and Stored Firearms
Breitbart ^ | 12/1/18

Harvard graduate student Leyla Pirnie was asked to move out of her apartment after her roommates discovered she possessed legally owned firearms.

The Washington Free Beacon reports that Pirnie’s roommates allegedly rummaged through her belongings while she was away from the apartment, discovered her guns, and emailed the landlord to complain. One of the roommates told the landlord: “We discussed with Leyla that all of us are uncomfortable with having firearms in the house, and that their presence causes anxiety and deprives us of the quiet enjoyment of the premise to which we are entitled.”

The landlord, Avid Management’s Dave Lewis, then emailed the apartment residents, including Pirnie, to say he had checked with local police, who verified the guns were “being safely and legally stored under lock and key.” Despite Pirnie’s compliance with the law, Lewis then cited the roommates’ discomfort with firearms as grounds for Pirnie to move out of the apartment.

There is no indication that the lease says “no firearms”. That’s not what’s going on. The landlord is not seeking to evict her.

Basically the landlord is performing an informal mediation between quarreling co-tenants and suggesting that the most sensible solution would be for gun owner to move. But he’s not saying she has to. He is saying that if she stays and snowflakes all move, he’s going to be looking to her for the $6,000 rent each month. And he has every right to do that.

Where’s her gofundme page? She’d earn enough donations for legal fees in no time.

Yes, her rights were violated when her roommates went snooping through her things. Since they admitted to doing so, I think it would be profitable for her to engage the services of an attorney.

Sounding hopelessly naive here, but what if she offered to take her roomies to the range & teach them how to shoot and lose their fear of firearms?

Isn’t that the most effective way to change a liberal’s attitude about guns?

GoFundMe is a good suggestion. Also, she should contact the NRA and ask them for help. It would be a really wise decision on their part to get involved. She seems like a super nice lady-the perfect civilian rep for responsible gun ownership.

Taking the roomies to the range might help. Probably be a better idea though to take them to see shrinks. Exorcism might also work.

I once went to civil court over a matter. I found an attorney I could confer with while pursuing the matter.

It took hours of time, but it things like this usually get hashed out in mediation and the plaintiff wins a few buck’s worth of ‘walk-away’ money. I think I spent < $500.

One trick: allege that some things are missing.
Nobody wants to go to court; a good threat is usually enough.
It has to be a genuine, scorched-the-earth threat though, not a bluff.

And smile. Always. I decided before court, in dealing with everybody that I would be the nicest son-of-a bitch they ever met. I think I enjoyed it, looking back.

"Pirnie’s roommates allegedly rummaged through her belongings while she was away from the apartment..."

That's an illegal search, unless she gave them permission. If she didn't give permission, she should sue them.

She should definitely encourage the snowflakes to move out and use the publicity resulting from this incident to find some better roommates.

They think it’s okay to dig through other people’s stuff so long as they’re conservatives. They’d howl to the moon if it was done to them.

If there was a door to her room, she had a reasonable expectation of privacy. Sue their asses off.

Yep, these are the snowflakes who some idiots believe will go door-to-door and disarm 100 million gunowners.
