'Morning Joe' Professor Explains Away Hyde-Smith Win: Voters Don't Know 'Their Interests'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 11/28/2018 8:11:09 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

After all the MSM hype about the Mississippi Senate run-off, liberals are faced with the troublesome task this morning of explaining away Cindy Hyde-Smith's comfortable victory.

[snip]

Glaude described Hyde-Smith as "the last breath of the inheritors of the plantation class." He then condescendingly accused poor Mississippians of being too benighted to realize what was good for them:

"Given the demographics of the state, if poor people, poor people in Mississippi, acted in their interests, they are the majority. They are the majority . . . If poor people are acting in their interest, then they can change."

To this “professor” ex-Democrats like me are probably the biggest POS on Earth! I acted in my own interest when I no longer wanted to be a poor and ignorant RAT, and have to accept the socialist direction of the party!

You either represent our interests or we will find someone who will do what he promises.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That does not explain why we have so many Bush League Republicans who are hell bent on turning the USA into North Mexico.
Do the people of South Carolina really want amnesty for illegal aliens and their employers because they repeatedly vote for Flimsey Grahamnesty?
Grahamnesty says they do.
He has repeatedly said that a vote for him is a vote for amnesty.
I have Intelligence. I have a college degree in Math and Chemistry, and also MBA. It's obvious to me that these poor people KNOW very well what is in their interests.
In addition, the hoopla over Hyde-Smith’s “confederate” statements, likely backfired. The war of Northern Aggression is the term still used for the civil war, and if her constituency didn't like her statements, she would not even have been running for re-election.
He then condescendingly accused poor Mississippians of being too benighted to realize what was good for them:
Typical Progressive.
This is a core Progressive belief and value.
Their argument, such as it is, goes like this:
Ordinary people are much too stupid to make their own decisions.
The government must make the decisions for these stupid people.
Smart people should be in charge of the government.
I am smart.
I should be in charge of the government.
You forgot one.
Therefore: I should make all the decisions for these people.
I'm guessing - that like most ‘elites’ in DC, one of the 6 books he's read in the last twenty years was Thomas Frank's “What's the Matter with Kansas”... And from that book he's drawn the conclusion we're all so stupid we vote against our self interest...
Maybe we should all chip in and buy Eddie Glaude a subscription to Atlantic - it's filled with stupid liberal ideas but at least their the up to date ones...
Flimsey Tinkerbelle keeps getting reelected because South Carolina has open primaries where Democrats can vote for the Republican of their choice.
He has improved since the timely death of his Svengali, John McCain, but he’s still oily on the issues.
54% t0 46% not really that close. Too big a win for Democrats to manufacture enough votes to overturn this election.
The Dems are in such a tizzy that people are parachuting off the welfare roles and into the new jobs that Trump, not the Dems, brought to them. And once people are off welfare roles, they look back and realize what a crappy deal welfare was to begin with, compared to what they now know they can provide for themselves, and what a bunch of whoooie, the Dems have been feeding them all this time to keep them on welfare.
That is an astounding number. Then again, African-Americans are realizing what 80 years on the Democratic plantation has brought; broken families, failing schools, rampant crime, drug abuse and poverty in many of their communities. That is particularly true in the Delta; I was a teacher in that region for several years after retiring from the military. Conditions there are gut-wrenching, but you can’t find a single town or county that isn’t under Democrat control.
Other places in Mississippi are thriving, including the Gulf Coast, the Golden Triangle (Columbus-West Point-Starkville) and the counties just south of Memphis. African-Americans who can get out are leaving and going to places in the state that offer genuine opportunity.
BTW, Trump is doing even better with Hispanic voters. But you wouldn’t know that by listening to the MSM.
This is a perfect example of Leftist thinking. If you don’t do what they want or you disagree with them, then you are stupid, uninformed or one of the “isms”. This black a-hole is the epitome of the Left.
I have watched C span for30 years & I have noticed that the Democrats have the religious belief set in theological concrete that the American people are to stupid to wipe/flush/wash their hands she they use the toilet. I have also noticed that more Republicans are thinking the same way.
All the Democrats have to offer is platitudes. Trump is authentic.......and he made it....big.
He will show Blacks how.
Actually, wouldn’t the inheritor of the plantation class be Democrat Mike Espy?
And here we have this Black overseer trying to tell other Blacks in MS what’s good for them.
