Lionsgates take on Sherwood Forest suffers worst opening of any film this year with a budget above $90 million
Lionsgates Robin Hood is turning out to be this years biggest blockbuster bomb, with a $14 million five-day opening against a budget of just under $100 million. This years Thanksgiving weekend has provided the most lucrative box office ever. But even with all the record-breaking success, there have been some failures in 2018.
Most of those bombs, like Paramounts Annihilation and Foxs The Darkest Minds, have had low-to-mid-level budgets that have reduced how much of a financial hit their studios have taken.

All three of the previous Robin Hoods (1938, 1991 and 2010) I liked.
Didn’t much care for the 1922 and 1976 ones.
Saw the preview of this one where Robin Hood was shooting arrows like Legolas.
Nope, I’ll pass.
Public domain stories are way too attractive for lazy Hollywood.
Damn near all these failures are blatant SJW bullcrap. The comments at the linked article are quite interesting. At least I’m not the only one who is sick of that crap in movies and TV.

As soon as I knew Jamie Foxx was in it the decision was decided. No way.
That was my first reaction when I saw the trailer for this on the telly: “Give me Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone any day. Still the best Robin Hood flick.
“Wish hed been able to do William Tell.”
I recommend reading this, but it’s also about Tell’s son. Warning: the gore may be disturbing..

Although....
HUH? LOL! Some would think a “hole” new batch of libs would flock to see some ner-do-well taking from the rich and giving to the lay abouts, uh, I mean poor.
No doubt about it, although the Costner version was entertaining. The one with Connery & Audrey Hepburn, “Robin & Marian,” was also quite good.
Very interesting indeed. The ones that made me giggle were the ones accusing the SJW revisionists of cultural appropriation.
I read that the original script Crowe’s “Robin Hood” was made from was called “Nottingham.” It followed the Sheriff of Nottingham investigating a series of murders based on 13th Century techniques (the writer was a history buff, apparently). The murders point to Robin Hood, but he eventually determines it was a setup. Robin Hood was even supposed to be portrayed as a scummy criminal. The film’s third act was woven into a real-life battle, too, where the Sheriff confronts the killer.
It sounded really interesting. Then it got picked up by Ridley Scott and he changed absolutely everything thus giving us the generic Crowe piece of crap.
...who is John Galt?
...who is Lars Anderson?

In the Style of Sherlock Holmes (2009)
Uh, how many Brits were on a movie set set in France and Napa, in what, 1976?
At the end, there was a shot of the guy Rickman portrayed...
Manga bookmark.
Alan Rickman stole that whole movie. He was hilarious and vile and magnetic all at the same time.
It was several years before I realized he was the “Spock” character in Galaxy Quest.
The one with Audrey Hepburn and Sean Connery was the sadest and most memorable.
"Unlike OTHER Robin Hood, I can speak with an English accent...."
