Lionsgates take on Sherwood Forest suffers worst opening of any film this year with a budget above $90 million
Lionsgates Robin Hood is turning out to be this years biggest blockbuster bomb, with a $14 million five-day opening against a budget of just under $100 million. This years Thanksgiving weekend has provided the most lucrative box office ever. But even with all the record-breaking success, there have been some failures in 2018.
Most of those bombs, like Paramounts Annihilation and Foxs The Darkest Minds, have had low-to-mid-level budgets that have reduced how much of a financial hit their studios have taken.

Too much competition from big movies right now.
Haven’t the last three attempts of a big budget “Robin Hood” movie failed at the box office? I’m pretty sure the Russell Crowe one a few years back did. I don’t know how the Kevin Costner version, a few more years back, did.
Did they remake Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood?
Haven’t there been numerous Robin Hood movies over many decades? Was there really a new story to tell about Robin Hood?
Robin Che, taking from the Capitalist pigs and giving the workers world party.
I liked 1993 “ Robin Hood Me in Tights” by Mel Brooks
Honestly who green lit that nonsense?
Hey, I got an idea, lets make Robin Hood more Hip and Cool and a SJW... and multicultural and blah blah blah...
Looks like the Russel Crowe version didn’t do well but the Costner version did pretty well.
Olivia De Havilland - Maid Marian - is still going strong at 102.
The Preview did look like the dumbest movie ever made. So?
I’m sure the latest incarnation has Robin as a fag, Marion as a strong, independent #metoo victim, Nottingham as an orange-haired villain, and Sherwood Forest as an endangered green space.
No wonder crowds missed it in droves.
“Did they remake Kevin Costners Robin Hood?”
That was the best of them all, entertainment-wise. Had a good song by Bryan Adams, had one of the best villains ever in Alan Rickman (BAFTA nominated) and the ending with Sean Connery was a bonus.
Russell Crowe’s was utter crap with the dark angle nonsense..
“Hey, I got an idea, lets make Robin Hood more Hip and Cool and a SJW... and multicultural and blah blah blah...”
Put more “’Hood” into the story. Could work.
Please tell me it is a Disney flick.
Plus it had Jamie “I hate Trump, whites and conservatives” Foxx...screw that. I wont even download it via torrent for free..
Erroll Flynn’s movie was still the best.
If it ain’t Errol Flynn it ain’t Robin Hood
We watched Crazy Rich Asians this weekend and found it enjoyable.
Yes, I saw it as class field trip to Radio City Music Hall November 1973 With 1000’s of school kids.
