It’s nobody’s business when the Notorious RBG retires

When it comes to the oldest justice currently serving on the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the message has long since set in for liberals. Donald Trump is going to be in office for two or possibly six more years and for at least the next two, the GOP controls the Senate. How much longer will she remain on the bench? After her recent health scare (a fall resulting in some broken ribs), some alarmed Democrats are growing resentful that Ginsburg didn’t retire when Barack Obama was in office and she had the chance to give up her seat to a like-minded judge. At The Hill, Lydia Wheeler posts some observations from Washington University School of Law associate professor Daniel Epps. He sounds kind of angry.

“Given that she wants her vision of the law to prevail, it was a mistake to hang in there indefinitely,” said Daniel Epps, an associate professor of law at the Washington University School of Law. “If she stays for five more years from now, that’s 2023. Even if there’s a Democratic president elected in 2020, it’s quite possible that Republicans might control the Senate in 2023.”

Epps said that for now, the future of the court is riding on Ginsburg’s health.

“We shouldn’t be in this position where the future of certain policies turn on whether this old woman is healthy or not,” he said.

Pardon me for saying it, but… Boo Hoo. In 2015 and 2016 there were plenty of people who were assuming that Hillary Clinton was going to be the next president and if Ginsberg was one of them I’ll just remind you that hindsight is 20/20. But that might not have even been a factor in her decision to continue working. Professor Epps is bitter now because he fears that Notorious RBG will fall ill to the point where she would have to step down or something even worse. But the woman has already beaten cancer twice and reportedly could run a half marathon if she needed to. Personally, I think she’ll be fine.

But no matter whether it’s retirement or health concerns, the decision remains between Ruth Bader Ginsburg and God. Epps is wringing his hands over “the future of certain policies” (spoiler alert: he’s talking about abortion) and describing it as hanging by a thread based on “whether this old woman is healthy or not.” Is it just me, or is that a pretty offensive thing to say about anyone, particularly a Supreme Court Justice?

If you want to change the system and put term limits on the Supreme Court, draft up an amendment and start circulating it around the country. But until that time, there’s no point debating the retirement age of the justices or harassing them over it. If Ginsburg wants to serve five or even ten more years, that’s up to her. Conversely, if she decides that enough is enough and steps down in January, that’s her prerogative as well. If you want to worry about “some old woman’s health” you should keep saying prayers for Betty White. Now there’s a national treasure.

“The Wise Latina isn’t fit as a fiddle, either.”

Yes, she has Type 1 Diabetes and she’s had some issues related to it. People with Type 1 don’t often live to be 80+!

Trump will have her replacement in March. She will not make past February 2019; Hillary will also see her Clinton Foundation hit with a special prosecutor as the NYC seeks to prosecute the Trump Foundation. Turnabout is fair play; the Clintons are going down, RBG is going to leave us. And Roberts may just get an offer he can’t refuse, like a trip to a Texas Ranch.

It's nobody’s business when the Notorious RBG retires ___________________________________________ Oh, I think GOD might have a say-so in the matter.

I am quite welcome that God has responsibility for it.

I do *not* believe I have sufficient wisdom to make such a decision.

If someone attempted the assassination of RGB, and I were there and capable, I would attempt to stop them.

I gladly give these decisions to God!

Don’t look for sense or reason from leftists, including RBG.

An easy way to make sense of their desires, is to ask: What gives them more power? What benefits them most personally?

Through those lenses, it usually makes sense.

You have to put aside any concern for the USA or anyone else, then it works.

Thanks for the explanation, I didn’t feel like clarifying the obvious. I don’t trust Roberts to hold with the Constitution. My opinion, I’ll hold with it and watch the court.

Kavanaugh was Kennedy’s replacement, IIRC.

Maybe your little Notorious cares more about herself and her pretty sitting than you and your politics, Lefties. Here’s some popcorn for you to rewatch her docu-drama.

I think I get what you mean. Kennedy was the fence sitter. Now Roberts is the fence sitter. Right?

It is because she believes her seat is a “Jewish” seat. Obama was quite clear he would nominate someone who wasn’t Jewish.

I’m cool with that. Let’s put Dennis Prager in her seat. ;)

Hope you’re right about the Clinton Foundation. RBG is a tough old bird but broken ribs at her age open her up to pneumonia big time. She has the best medical care on the planet though so they will make sure she pulls through. I think she could last a lot longer than people think. She has no business being on the bench right now but she’s doing it anyway as others do all the heavy lifting for her.

All these investigations mean one of two things; there’s a lot of corruption in our government and/or there’s a lot of petty harassment. Either way it’s no way to run a railroad.

Most days it feels like our politics and government is just one long running political drama running on the various media (TV, Internet, Newspapers) with talking heads telling us what new bad news there is today. Like it’s all just theater with these idiots in congress justifying their worthless existence and taking their marching orders from their larger donors who bought their way into office so they can then make sure things go the way the owner/donors want them to.

It’s all about power and who wields it. Obama was never in charge. He was definitely a bought and paid for lackey. Trump is his own man owned by no one and that’s what bothers the congress owners.

Not really much different than a pro-sports team members who are bought and paid for by some rich owner. Pardon the rant. Some days it just gets to be too much nonsense.

I didn’t invent the idea or come up with the thought. After hearing the thoughts voiced I tended to agree. We are playing a very tight game with this group. IMO. Happy Thanksgiving.
