A federal judge on Friday granted CNN's request for a court order that would temporarily reinstate network correspondent Jim Acosta's White House press pass, which had been suspended indefinitely in the wake of a fiery exchange between the reporter and President Donald Trump a week earlier.

The ruling from Judge Timothy Kelly, who was appointed by Trump, was a first victory for CNN in the ongoing case.

> Trump can revoke all existing passes and grant new ones - including those to the general public - with stipulations that the rules must be followed, or the holder will be subject to suspension, revocation and/or ejection.

Why couldn’t they go straight back into that court and argue that this, too, is a unilateral taking away of their irrevocable perpetual right over the President’s time and generally to roam the property and harangue and harass Republican administration officials as much as they want, and replacing it with an inferior version with rules and stuff that they never had before? Any reduction at all in what they can do could be said to reduce the value of their press pass and therefore violate their property rights.

President Trump should just leave word with Sarah that she is not to call on any CNN reporter. There is nothing that compels that a news outlet gets called upon. 8>)

Thanks for your comments.

I think the answer is to simply move that press gaggle, with their puffed up egos, out of the WH and into the Executive Office building. I'll be able to hear their bleating about the move up here in NYC. They actually think they are a branch of the Federal government.

Perhaps he should even appeal the ruling, seek a stay, and carry the fight on. That’s what Democrats do. 8>)

The judge’s decision is itself ILLEGAL!

The court had no subject matter jurisdiction to hear any issue involving access to the President’s residence. Access is discretionary with the Executive Branch. I can’t believe the court even set this for a hearing, much less that they would rule in Acosta’s favor.

But Trump should just cancel all press briefings and press events until the decision is overturned or CNN removes Acosta from WH access.

Trump has Twitter. He doesn’t need these clowns coming into his home and disrespecting him.

When this is all over Trump should order the Secret Service to keep Acosta at least 1000 yards from the President at all times. All he needs to do is give the order. He doesn’t have to announce that that is what he did. Let Acosta figure it out when he is arrested for interference with the Secret Service if he tries to get past an agent who has told him to back off.

Everyone should do this. A half million or so of these ought to get some attention.

What the hell kind of “due process” is there for a press credential?

You apply for one, you get it. You act like an ass, you lose it.

End of process.

“For one, the WH can now establish rules of conduct and standards for behavior. Violate those terms of use, and the holder can be suspended, revoked and/or ejected.”

These standards already exist, and were the legitimate basis for revoking the press pass - which was a privilege - not an asset.

Temporary stay of the rescinding is my understanding.
The case in front of the judge has not yet been decided.

That would appear to be the case. The Administration might elect to seek a writ in a higher Court to stay the stay, since this case clearly involves issues that go to the different functions defined in Article II from those under Article III of the Constitution.

Donald, just remind them of “Separation of Powers”, and that you will run your office as you please.

Easy solution, stop having the dog and pony shows called conference and just have press releases.

Trump shines at pressers. Depriving the President of this opportunity to "show his stuff" (and to humiliate the occasional snotty press corps member) would be a loss for our side.

Just my opinion.

Regards,
