Angela Merkel is on her way out as Chancellor of Germany, whether it be at the end of her term (she’s not running again) or through being forced out sooner. But that doesn’t mean that she’s going quietly into that good night. Following some rather acerbic remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron about the European Union needing to be able to stand up to the United States, Merkel chimed in this week with a wonderful plan of her own, no matter how offensive it may sound.
She suggested that the EU needs their own standing army so they can be well defended against possible aggression. She was supporting Macron’s recent comments where he said Europe needed protection from, “China, Russia and even the United States of America.”
German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday backed French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in his call for a European army — a move that President Trump has called “insulting” as he urged the countries to fulfill their NATO commitments instead.
Merkel told lawmakers in the E.U. Parliament in Strasbourg that “we have to work on the vision of one day creating a real European army.” She clarified the such a force would not mean the end of NATO, and also called for the creation of a European security council.
The remarks were met with a mix of boos and cheers from lawmakers, with some British representatives crying “Rubbish! Rubbish!”
On the surface, it’s certainly insulting to the United States. The idea that the country whose military has done more to keep Europe free over the last century than anyone else (except possibly Russia, ironically, during WW2) is someone they need to be ready to fight would be hilarious if it weren’t so sad.

Do it. About the only Euros with any fight in them are rag-head refugees. Conscript them and arm them. They already have small arms training. Go ahead and make my day. The beheading videos from Berlin, Paris, Brussels, Vienna and London will be on YouTube soon.
If the U.S. were to ever move against Europe, it would be because Europe had been lost and were now a mortal enemy. Most likely wouldn’t happen during President trump’s term(s), even with most of Europe handing over their countries to invading hordes.
The wall could be much much shorter, if we kept the current border, but created a large DMZ south of our current border, moved a number of our military bases into the DMZ, and let them really go after bad guys south of our border.
We could then more easily eradicate the cartels and all their corrupt police and their paid Mexican army. Many tens of thousands of people have been killed by these killers south of the border, including thousands of children, and we could end those cartels and their people and sex trafficking, and violence.
Additionally, we could call the same DMZ something like a “Free American Economic Trade Zone”, (since so many from South of our border want to come to America), offer jobs to those who live their, and abide by the law, and bring up the infrastructure over time from part of the profits of the “Free American Economic Trade Zone”.
If people get all angry over it, publish how the model follows the Chinese model, which is elevated by many of our college campuses.
Then our wall could be built and not endanger the Rio Grande River so many environmentalist are worried about, and to the wall itself would cost half or less.
This plan would then give access to American shipping in the beautiful and very capable Gulf of California, bipassing California.
This would really put a cramp in the plans to the left and Latina’s goal to either return the Southwest to Mexico, or their plans to create a new communist country out of our Desert Southwest.
I bet this idea does not become very popular with recent generations.

So now we can pull all troops from most of the EU, starting with Germany. Now.
Merkel’s Germany currently can’t even maintain the smallest of competent naval, air, and armored forces. Reports of their maintenance backlogs and sidelined equipment have become extreme in recent years. No active submarines, hardly any active duty aircraft and tanks, etc. Proud German military traditions are on fumes of life support. How exactly would she contribute to a “European army” capable of defending that entire continent?

Reply of the thread so far. I agree. Let Germany wallow in their stupid massive Islamic immigration and America does a deal with Poland and move our bases. Let the socialist open-borders western Europe nations self-destruct.
They say they want to build their own European Union forces, I say go for it and get off our dime. Let's see how long it takes for them to come running for help when Russia expands their imperialism.
