FULL TITLE: 'We Really Muffed The Error Margins': Global Warming Report Rendered Worthless After Scientists Point Out Flaw In Ocean-Warming Survey
A major climate change report has been corrected, as two scientists found a glaring error in an ocean-warming report. The original report was alarming; oceans are warming at a rate 60 percent higher than what was first reported by a United Nations panel. The world is ending, folks. Its The Day After Tomorrow, except that its not. The oceans arent warning at that rate. In fact, the range is so great that experts can no longer stand by their original statistic. They muffed the error margins. A mathematician caught the error and cooled the temperatures of this survey (via NRO):
The paper, published October 31 in the scientific journal Nature, suggested ocean temperatures have risen roughly 60 percent higher than estimated by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). But, after errors in the authors methodology were identified, they realized their findings were roughly in line with those of the IPPC, after all.
The researchers alarming findings were uncritically reported by numerous mainstream-media outlets but Nic Lewis, a mathematician and popular critic of the consensus on man-made climate change, quickly identified errors.
[ ]
Ralph Keeling, a climate scientist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography who co-authored the paper, said he and his partner, Laure Resplandy of Princeton, quickly realized the implications of their mistake once Lewis pointed it out.
[ ]
After correcting their mistake, Keeling said their research indicates oceans are warming only slightly faster than previously thought, not dramatically faster as they initially reported. Keeling said the miscalculation was made when they were calculating their margin of error, which had a larger range (10 to 70 percent) than they initially believed.or margins.

Yes, what exactly are the consequences if a scientist is wrong? They write a grant for a new study, teach one class a year (maybe), and take no hit to their paycheck or cushy benefits.
Can we file a class action suit against the perps for the cost of all the useless regulations that we have incurred, or is this just an “Ooops, so sorry” kind of deal
Again
It doesn’t matter a dam bit.
Even if I know it, even if you know it, even if the scientists admit it’s wrong, even if it snows in the Sahara desert...
for years and years and years the media has harped on about global warming..
The millenials will not believe anything else.
NOAA Temperature Adjustments Correlate Exactly with the Rise in CO2 - Big Surprise
Thermometers show the US cooling since about 1920, but NOAA massively cools the past to create the appearance of a warming trend. These adjustments make a spectacular hockey stick of data tampering. When plotted against atmospheric CO2, the correlation is almost perfect. NOAA is tampering with the data exactly to match their theory.

NOAA Fiddles With Climate Data To Erase The 15-Year Global Warming Hiatus 6/4/2015
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration scientists have found a solution to the 15-year pause in global warming: They adjusted the hiatus in warming out of the temperature record. New climate data by NOAA scientists doubles the warming trend since the late 1990s by adjusting pre-hiatus temperatures downward and inflating temperatures in more recent years.
GISS US tampering.NOAA = Fake Science!
After all that there still would be no improvement in the core model..
Has anyone else seen the spike in natural gas prices? Went to $4.837 per Mcf. New England hasn’t the pipe capacity to move gas. The storage is low this year because prices weren’t supportive of drilling.
East coast may have to bundle up like Briton’s pensioners, for lack of heat. Be a rough winter if someone turned off the tap.
We were told in 2000 that our grandchildren would never see snow.
I'd love to see a link for that...so I can rub some noses in it.
Thanks in advance.
the report did what it was supposed to do....no one will read the followup except freeper types...
Can they do that with “settled science”?
IOW, the authors of this "research" BELONG IN PRISON.
Wasn't most of Florida suppose to be underwater too? I would trust a used car salesperson before any of these damn 'scientists'... MIT needs to understand it's easier to throw a good reputation away than to get it back.
