After seventeen years in syndication, Laura Ingraham will end her daily talk show at the end of the year while launching a new daily podcast through PodcastOne.
PodcastOne parent Courtside Entertainment Group has served as Ingrahams syndicator since 2013. Ingraham says that the toll of hosting her nightly Fox News Channel program on top of the radio show and raising three children took a toll, Although I will greatly miss my radio listeners and affiliates, working late nights and early mornings has taken a toll on my family life. Plus, my radio audience is smart, savvy and committed, and I know most will follow my new show in the format that is revolutionizing the audio worlddigital podcasting.
Ingraham began her syndicated show with Westwood One in 2001. It moved to Talk Radio Network in 2004 until the end of 2012.
Market based factors or political pressure?
I think Laura is the best take radio host out there. She’s very smart, conservative and gracious.
The toll took a tool, the article said.
Tolls will do that.
Sometimes taking a toll on a toll will take a toll.
But that’s just hearsay.
Anyway, I wish her the best.
Occam’s Razor: AM radio is finally dying.
Fine by me. Maybe my local AM station will replace her with someone who I can tolerate listening to. I don’t like Ingraham’s smugness or sarcasm.
I don’t think it’s dying, but it can’t generate the revenues to support these enormous contracts for syndicated hosts. In many places it’s migrating back to the way it was in the pre-Limbaugh days, with talk radio and news dominating the format and all the talk radio hosts being local personalities.
Damn! There goes my mornings!...................
Michael savage is losing two hours or something, to be replaced with that never Trumper twerp who gets chased off college campuses (can’t remember his name). Bill Bennett was replaced with Hugh Hewitt a while ago. It seems radio is changing, and I don’t like it. I looked at the website for the pod people, and it seems difficult to find things. Just a ton of strange names I don’t recognize, with a few I do recognize, though not top tier by any measure.
Isn’t this what Michael Savage has said he’s doing? Leaving syndication and going to some sort of podcast arrangement?
Agreed. Got sick of her thinking she can can pick Supreme Court justices, and one day when she had breast cancer she was coldly dismissive of a caller with breast cancer. That finished her for me. Im sorry but the talk hosts are all wealthy narcissists.
That was here her podcasts have been since leaving her original syndicator in 2011.
Too many hosts. In some markets she was not live or an hour was cut off. Also she has a tv show now. I think she wanted a change.
Ben Shapiro. Can’t stand him.
Podcasting has really come into it’s own. None of the time constraints of radio and it can be listened to any time.
Funny both left the same company TRN in 2011. They seemed happy at the time. But Savage had to compete with Hannity and Ingraham had other shows during her slot like Brian Kilemeade and Glenn Beck and whomever else.
Long days, morning show, nightly Fox show. Maybe fewer affiliates than before. She can still reach a lot of people via podcast.
Michael Savage is moving to only 1 hr per day on radio, and a 2 hr podcast.Ben Shapiro will do the other 2 hours and a podcast.
Bill Bennett retired.
