I talked to someone in SR today, she said the same thing. Not sure if they will open the SR schools tomorrow due to air quality. We were in Calistoga the other day, it was so nice and the sky was so blue. What a difference. Prayers for safety for all.

Prayers up. That area is my old stomping grounds. Born and raised there.

How’s Lafayette and Martinez? I used to live there.

I just bought a house in Magalia

My family recently sold my deceased dad's vacation house in Magalia. Nice little place on a couple acres with a creek running through it.

I know that Lafayette was pretty smoky, according to my wife, who works there. Not sure about Martinez, but I’d be willing to bet it’s smoky there as well.

Trying to clear a road with bulldozers through Paradise blocked with burning cars and felled trees to get hundreds of people trapped in north Paradise. Whole town on fire.

Do you have a link to that map?

In what officials describe as “mass devastation,” at least 1,000 structures were lost Thursday when a fire swept through the Northern California town of Paradise, forcing residents to run for their lives.
The Butte County fire exploded from 10 acres to more than 10,000 in a matter of hours, taking direct aim at the town of 27,000 known as a popular retirement community.
“It has destroyed the town,” said Scott McLean, a Cal Fire spokesman.

I heard a report on my link earlier that since PG&E turned the power off as a precaution they had trouble pumping water at some locations

not sure if they turned it off because of the expected winds like they did a few weeks ago

Let’s see, the normal routine. Fires started in multiple locations overnight so that the fires are raging out of congtrol at sunrise ... so many coincidences time after time in CA. fires.

Really, shut up. PG&E has been announcing power outages or tentative power outages through this area for about 3 weeks. This is the time of year when the weather changes. It is still bone dry and stuff winds start to kick up. Power lines downed by the wind are a high danger... thus PG&E is experimenting with shutting off power in areas expected to be affected. My friend’s brother in law lost his house and it sounds like (unconfirmed) that his niece was killed when the fire engulfed her house.

Lunatic ravings are not helpful at a time like this.

Spoke to a ham friend of mine in Paradise this morning when we saw the plumes of smoke. He was getting stuff together to evacuate. He is in his 80s. He supposedly hit the road, but I finally talked to him minutes ago and he is in a caravan right now going from the K-Mart in town down Clark Road to safety. He and his wife have been stuck in the middle of town all day. Jeez. Now I have to find out about another ham friend, also in his 80s but not mobile. Supposedly the fire is 18K acres...but that was at three this afternoon. Its probably around 25Kacres now. Nightmare.

J. Havenfarm,

I was asking editor-surveyor for a link to his/her information, and quoting his/her posts.

I just received an alert on my phone about a fire in Santa Rosa. Not too far from my place. Just started... 1 acre. Small, but hinkey how these fires just start all around the same time.

Oh no.

I was so hoping this wouldn’t happen.

Last night I saw a fire warning from the weather service or noaah or something.

Yes, it is very suspicious to me as well.

Prayers up for those in the area.

This is heartbreaking.
