After Pharrell, Rihanna has objected to US President Donald Trump using her music at his campaign rallies ahead of the midterms.
The singer took to Twitter to protest after she learnt that her hit track "Don't Stop the Music" was reportedly played at a campaign rally Sunday for Republican Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Rihanna was tipped off by Washington Post White House bureau chief Philip Rucker.
"(Neither) me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies. Thanks for the heads up Philip (sic)!" she tweeted her reply to Rucker.
The development comes after Rihanna endorsed Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum on Instagram.
Last week, Pharrell Williams sent a cease-and-desist notice to Trump after his popular track "Happy" was played at the US president's political rally, the same day of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
Other artistes who have forbidden the POTUS to using their music include Neil Young, Adele, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Queen, George Harrison, Luciano Pavarotti, Steven Tyler and Prince.
Lee Greenwood is all we really need.
While waiting in line at funeral service I looked in door of where the music was being played. There were stickers for BMI and ASCAP indicating that every time they played music that wasn’t in the public domain, someone got a check.
Hummmm. Protecting your intellectual property sounds... Capitalistic. Of course what is really going on is that extreme hard core leftists are listening to any music played at Republican events and organizing boycotts .
How are you gonna make him, ***ch?
Boycott Puma
Well she’s welcome to quit ASCAP so they wont licences her work anymore. Till then suck it up and enjoy the royalties.
Yeah, um, I’d like to hear how the Maestro sounded from a decade or so in the grave ...
She was Chris Brown’s punching bag. I think that was his name.
Guess she wasn’t so tough after all.
I DONT UNDERSTAND why Rs don’t grab songs from ALL the bands, from country to hard rock to metal to glam rock, that support Republicans or at least aren’t outwardly hostile.
NOTHING BUT A GOOD TIME by Poison would be a good choice.
Celebrates the working man and Brett is DEFINITELY not a liberal.
He’s on record as saying “Trump is going to do a great job” as president.
He was right.
Always liked the guy.
See the first line in post number 49
Great minds and all.
Though I don’t have a great mind so forget that :)
Trump should use Sousa marches. They are awesome.

You see me do me dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt
There’s something ‘bout that work, work, work, work, work, work
When you a gon’ learn, learn, learn, learn, learn, learn
Me na care if me tired, tired, tired, tired, tired, tired
Lemme guess, PBS no longer records Wednesday concerts at the White House as they did when Obama Hussein Barrack was president.
Maybe he can further exclude such as her by playing “I’m In With The In Crowd” to kick off a rally.....because they obviously ain’t part of the in crowd.
People DON’T get checks from ASCAP and BMI over that, families bring music from home and say “play this” at a loved one’s funeral. The songs are not noted any more than clubs report which DJs played what songs.
Paying the ASCAP and BMI shakedown protection fees keeps ASCAP and BMI from taking you to court over playing music without giving them money.
Most artists don’t see sh!t.
tell her to BAKE the CAKE and not discriminate against customers of her product.
It’s correct: “learnt”, although not common usage.
She cannot do that. Suck it up buttercup.
Back in ‘06, National Review published a list of the top 50 conservative rock songs.
So it is a little dated, but worth a look:
