The Media has a vested interest in promoting close elections so the political campaign begs donors for more money to spend on Media advertising.
Same thing is true for the pollsters. If the pollsters accurately polled, there would be no interest by the campaigns in conducting new polls if the current poll showed them far in the lead.
Senate forecast is based on Dems losing no more than two of six dead-heat races, and nothing from anything that even slightly leans their way in the current polling average.

From what I’ve seen over the past two decades (I was 30 when a friend told me about this board!!) is that early voting numbers, numbers of signs on the lawns, sizes of rallies (obama’s were SO tiny, we were told) and even exit polls mean nothing.
The only thing that counts is the actual vote cast.
