Dartmouth prof: 'If we don't abolish capitalism, capitalism will abolish us' ( Climate change )

Dartmouth College lecturer Mark Bray made the argument to abolish capitalism in a recent op-ed for Truthout, linking capitalism to the prioritizing of profit over the environment and everything else.

The professor has previously donated half of the profits from his book chronicling Antifa to the organization, written an introduction to an Antifa comic book, and tweeted glowingly about Antifa flags made by kids at a summer camp.

Dartmouth professor argued on Tuesday that "if we don't abolish capitalism, capitalism will abolish us."

Dartmouth College lecturer Mark Bray made the remark in an op-ed for Truthout, titled "How Capitalism Stokes the Far Right and Climate Catastrophe."

...

"We must recognize that the climate crisis and the resurgence of the far right are two of the most acute symptoms of our failure to abolish capitalism."

Bray's faculty profile lists the Dartmouth lecturer as an associated visiting scholar of the school's Gender Research Institute. It also describes him as "a historian of human rights, terrorism, and political radicalism in Modern Europe." But Bray seems to have done more than just document issues of radicalism.

I love how these clowns totally ignore the environmental devastation that occurred in Communist countries.

Capitalism, or the ability to exchange for what one needs to live and take care of one's family, is part of the human condition.

Anyone who thinks that any specific means of exchange can be destroyed is an utter fool.

Also beat me to this point.

Capitalism began when the first two stone-agers made a trade. It is the very foundation of what we call civilization.

Trying to “abolish” capitalism would be like trying to abolish gravity. It can’t be done and it would lead to the deaths of millions upon millions of human beings.

So go out there and abolish it, you liberal jerk! Make it happen!

Then go door to door and confiscate everyone’s guns.

Find. Under socialism/communism the “professor” would be paid about the same amount as me. Pick one: he gets my annual income, or I get his. Which is it?

Yes, to exchange one thing for what another has is just holding to the common sense commandment that it is not good to steal from your neighbor.

When the looney-leftists get their way the people have to steal for their needs.

America should have evaporated Communism when we had a chance during WWII. Imagine no Stalin or Mao and American Communists “teaching” our children.

100,000,000 were murdered by anti-capitslists in just 70 years last century.

Just like this guy proposes.

We must recognize that the climate crisis and the resurgence of the far right are two of the most acute symptoms of our failure to abolish capitalism."We must recognize that the climate crisis and the resurgence of the far right are two of the most acute symptoms of our failure to abolish capitalism."

the rich, capitalist, technologically advanced, free, rational countries are the ones that will best deal with any problems that might be caused by climate change.

“I love how these clowns totally ignore the environmental devastation that occurred in Communist countries.”

I went on a Baltic cruise this summer that stopped in Estonia. It is a beautiful country, but poor, and still suffering from the effects of being part of the Soviet Union. Also stopped at St. Petersburg, Russia. A beautiful city, but the Soviet effect can still be felt.

Dartmouth College lecturer Mark Bray . . .

This guy must be shockingly inept even in his own field. He's gone full socialist ("never go full socialist") and he's still just a lecturer? Pathetic.

Substitute freedom for capitalism, which is all it really means, and you get we don’t eliminate freedom freedom will eliminate us. That’s a fact, Jack
