Jewish Americans Flock to Firearms Training in Wake of Synagogue Attack
Breitbart ^ | Awr Hawkins

Jewish Americans are flocking to firearms training in the wake of the October 27 attack on Tree of Life Synagogue that killed 11 people.

For example, Haaretz reports that the Cherev Gidon Israeli Tactical Defense Academy near Scranton, Pennsylvania, is witnessing the highest demand for training it has ever seen.

Yonatan Stern, “a veteran officer of the Israel Defense Forces and director of the academy,” reminds his Scranton, Pennsylvania, classes: “The fact is, we’re at war. We want Jews everywhere to be armed.”

Stern indicates that “hundreds” of people interested in firearms training contacted him during the three days after the Pittsburgh attack. He observed that “all but three or four” of them were Jewish.

And while there are some members of the Jewish community pushing back against the idea of using guns to keep synagogues safe, Stern notes, “To wait for law enforcement to arrive simply is not the answer.”

Zev Guttman was afraid of guns until Saturday’s attack, but now he chooses to be armed. He said, “Everybody has to find a way to react; this is my way.”

Brooklyn borough president Eric L. Abrams reacted to the Pittsburgh attack by making clear he will be armed when he goes to a synagogue. He said, “It’s not popular, but it’s right.” He added, “We have to live in the real universe that we’re in.”

hmmmmm…..how’s this going to work for those insane liberal Jewish voters who keep choosing those who would take away their right to bear arms?

Those voters tend to avoid the synagogue anyway, so probably not much will change.

As they wisely should.

Christians should consider packing heat in church as well, for a host of reasons ranging from drugged-out Satanists to militant Islamists.

Now, if they would flock to the republican party and receive Yeshua (Jesus) - it would make for a nice trifecta!!

But yeah, “never again” takes added meaning when one possesses the means of personal defense.

Slightly off-topic, but I recently attended a talk by Dr. Ephraim Zuroff who is a Nazi hunter attached to the Simon Weisenthal Center.

It was a good talk. He is doing good work. The Jewish Holocaust is obviously very personal to him, as a Jew. He is focused on making Nazis pay for what they did.

During the question period, people raised some other historical topics to highlight the issue of man's inhumanity to man. Dr. Zuroff's reaction surprised me:

The Soviet persecution of the Ukrainians (the Holomodor) in the 1930s -- he didn't care. Totally dismissed it. The Nazis were worse.
The broad issue of Communism in the 20th century and their many victims -- he didn't care. Totally dismissed it. The Nazis were worse.
Nazi persecution of Homosexuals -- he didn't care. Totally dismissed it. What the Nazis did to the Jews was worse.

I left feeling that "never again" would be more likely if we all cared about more than just ourselves. I also thought about Martin Niemöller's famous quotation: "First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist ..." Niemoller was pointing out that things like the Holocaust are possible if we don't care about anyone but ourselves.

Dr. Zuroff cares about what happened to the Jews. Didn't seem to care about anyone else. That's how terrible things become possible, and that why "never again" is just a dream.

But they will leave it home when they go to synagogue...they are gun-free zones and you know how liberals feel about those.

“Zev Guttman was afraid of guns until Saturday’s attack, but now he chooses to be armed. He said, “Everybody has to find a way to react; this is my way.””

Excellent! Now if we could only get Zev to vote Republican, we’d have a real sea change in both areas.

They wont change their voting habits though. This is akin to libs who flee high tax states like CT and NY and go south. Only to continue to vote for the same yahoos that triggered their move resulting in...higher taxes. Mental disorder is the only explanation.

Talking with a Jewish friend several months ago who said that any synagogue that did not have designated concealed carry worshippers at every assembly was just asking for trouble.

It won’t help if they aren’t allowed to carry in Synagogue.

I have a hard time imagining that this is allowed.

My logical mind is reeling. Would the Holocaust have happened if Jews were willing and able to arm themselves? Do they really think the extreme Progressives that are taking over the Democrat Party wouldn't turn against them if given the opportunity?

Those protestors in Pittsburgh. One article said that was inspired by a Soros group. It's past time for traditional liberals to do some critical thinking.

Read the Old Testament Book of Esther. Particularly Esther 8:11 through 9:25.

“Even in Israel the laws for private gun ownership are as oppressive as in western Europe. Strange, with Arabs in their midst you would think Israelis would want to be packing.”

Not exactly.

First, recall that we have a large percentage of our population that can’t be trusted not to use a vehicle as a weapon. Ergo, a decision was made to restrict firearm ownership.

Second, recall that there is a draft (for the Jewish, Druze, and now Christian) populations. When in the reserves and then upon retirement, most are entitled to carry a weapon.

So the number of weapons in the hands of Jewish civilians in Israel is probably the same as civilians in Texas.

It’s a roundabout way to get to much the same place.

Yes, you are generally limited to one pistol, shotgun, and rifle. But, for a pilot, I am excellent with that one pistol I’ve used (in various iterations) for my life.

That’s the upside of living in a country led by nationalist vs. a national socialist. I doubt Jews in Germany in 20’s and 30’s had this option.
