Major General Herzi Halevi, the Commanding Officer of the IDF Southern Command, slammed the Hamas terrorist organization following the rocket attack on Be'er Sheva early Wednesday morning.
"Hamas pretends to govern in Gaza, and tells the Gazan population that it seeks to improve their lives. However, in reality, Hamas specializes in riots at the border fence and in using explosive devices, incendiary and explosive balloons, and, as we saw last night, rockets," Gen. Halevi said in a statement.
"Hamas worsens the lives of ordinary Gazans and last night took actions which forced us to strike a range of weapon production facilities, military compounds and underground infrastructure.
He said that the IDF strikes on Gaza in response to the rocket strike demonstrated the IDF's power. "Everything that was struck was destroyed. Hamas will find it difficult to raise the funds to restore these facilities."

The whole Palestinian issue seems to me just a lost cause. Whatever offenses may be debited against Israel in this endless confrontation pale before the self interested stupidity of the so-called Palestinian leadership that got basically everything they asked for at Camp David and then more at Tabas and still walked away. Some of it was cowardice because Islamists would target anyone who made an agreement with ‘the Zionist Entity’ other was worse in that the PA ‘leaders’ realized just continuing the confrontation provided them an easy life and they had to do nothing much other than community organize against Israel. Maybe in another fifty years the people running the PA will grow tired of this dreary war without a name and an end.

In another fifty years, there will be no PA. The Palestinians themselves will probably celebrate the day that the last of these ‘leaders’ either departs for Zurich or gets blown to smithereens.

One can only hope that level of self-interested rationality will prevail. The PA charlatans that wouldn't make a deal at Tabas then ended up in 2006 in getting a Hamas yo virtually take over. Some of the PA people might then have pondered on how had they made a deal with Israel they would have been firewalled by the ‘Zionist Entity’ from Hamas.

They lost elections. Dubya insisted that Hamas participate in a Ghaza election. No way to firewall against that. Of course, they might have protected them from being dropped off buildings, had they had a cooperative relationship.

A fight be a-brewin’, and Islam will be stewin’.
Heck, with Trump supposedly mad at the Saudis, this might be a good time to act on the cassis belli.

It would take finesse, but Trump could say something along the lines of, “With Saudi thuggery being so apparent, how can I ask Israel to not retaliate against these umpteen thousand attacks from Gaza?”
