The government of Saudi Arabia on Sunday vowed to retaliate with "greater action" if the Trump administration punishes the country for the apparently preplanned murder of a dissident earlier this month inside its Turkish Embassy.
Jamal Khashoggi, who wrote columns in the Washington Post critical of the Saudi government, entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul October 2 and disappeared. Trump has said the U.S. would be very upset and angry if the Saudi government was behind it and, in an interview with "60 Minutes," he clarified that there would be "severe punishment."
"The Kingdom affirms its total rejection of any threats and attempts to undermine it, whether by waving economic sanctions, using political pressure, or repeating false accusations," the country said in a statement released by the Saudi Press Agency.
"The Kingdom also affirms that if it receives any action, it will respond with greater action, [and] that the Kingdom's economy has an influential and vital role in the global economy," the statement continues.

The Saudis are NOT our friends.
What is Saudi Arabia going to do - stop asking for our protection?
You mean, “Stop hiring us as mercenaries?”
THIS IS A DEEP STATE FALSE FLAG. SA IS BEING FRAMED
The “facts” need to be established with a very high degree of certainty before we do anything. I don’t trust the Turks or even our own intelligence agency’s “assessments” on the matter.
The msm wants a war. Russia, China, Syria, Saudi Arabia, it makes no difference. As long as they can say Trump does not promote world peace and got us into a war.
We should have nuked Riyadh on 9/12/2001.

The 32 year old prince obviously didn’t think through the potential complications of his action. He has the right vision for his country, but lacking maturity.
Trump bit hard on the Deep State spin on this Khashoggi story. “Saudis killed Khashoggi” comes to you from the same DS crowd that delivered the Arab Spring to Egypt, Libya, and Syria. Don’t trust anything they say.
This is somebody else’s fight. The US has no vital interest at stake.
This journalist worked for Bezos. Let him deal with it.
The Saudis were never our friends. and like elephants, they never forget their enemies and have gotten away with bloody murder doing so for a long time.
Allies are not automatically friends. We should have learned that a long time ago.
I always believe the United States could be a energy exporting nation. For too many years our politicians (and the media) lied to us and we were at the mercy of OPEC.
Now that we have shown we do not need OPEC or more importantly the Saudies, it is time to rework the relationship between our two nations.
I’m hoping the Washington Post can send Jennifer Rubin over to the Saudi consulate in a Turkey next.
Obama was TOTALLY responsible for Khadaffi’s assassination....and the world said nothing.
This is somebody elses fight. The US has no vital interest at stake.
Sometimes the excuse is not the reason for a particular action.
Perhaps President Trump wants something from the Saudies and this is just a way of getting it.
“THIS IS A DEEP STATE FALSE FLAG. SA IS BEING FRAMED”
Having spent the better part of the last three years working aerospace stuff on the Arabian peninsula, I cautiously agree with your statement. In any event EVERY one of our so called Arab friends need us a lot more than we need them. The one thing they do well is to know where to send the checks to get the most bang for the buck influencing our policies. As for me, I still agree with Ann Coulter on how to deal with them....
What are they going to do... Shut off Twitter? good.
Who wants to bet this journalist is alive somewhere and this is just an excuse before the midterms to drive President Trump into some sort of conflict with Saudi Arabia..sorry I don’t trust Arab Journalists, especially those who work for the Washington Compost
When dealing with military dictatorships, and particularly Moslem ones, it is not nice to question them when they carve up people into little pieces. After all, they may be preparing shish-kabob (and they have “other uses” for their sheep)
