Ooh, its a tricky one, isnt it, Daniel? On the one hand, seriously, is that woman actually wearing a PITH HELMET in Nairobi? And, on the other, are we being unfeminist talking about it? Where is Andrea Dworkin when you need her, or maybe just Emily Post? Lets hear from Trump herself, as she gave a marvellously huffy TV interview about this very subject when she was in Egypt last week:
I want to talk about my trip, not what I wear. Thats very important, what I do, what were doing with US aid, what I do with my initiatives, and I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear, she harrumphed. And yet, her words might have had more impact if she hadnt said them while dressed like Belloq the Nazi collaborator from the Indiana Jones film Raiders of the Lost Ark. Im sorry, Melania, its just really hard to listen to a woman when shes wearing the clothes of one of the most famous fictional Nazi collaborators of all time. Call me crazy!

I read what Africans, real Africans in Africa thought about the First lady's sartorial sense and visit and they were
Melania visited, my country, Kenya and wore a hat aka pith helmet that has caused twitter controversy. But seriously, so what?
I think Melania is a beautiful and kind woman who gets slack for her
What if she wore a Texan cowboy hat. What would twitter have to say about it then? Oh, look, Melania has taken her republican fashion sense to Africa.
People will always find fault in whatever FLOTUS does or doesnt do.
As an outsider, I think she looked happy. Ive not seen her smile the way she has done in her African tour. She seemed genuinely happy, and I cant blame her. The African spirit is warm, kind and welcoming. We dont judge our guests for what they wear, its their smile and comfort that we seek to cherish.
I have spent the past twenty minutes to frame this sensitively. But at the end of the day, sensitivity lies in the eye of the beholder. My train of thought has been interrupted many times by laughter because, this, as a controversy is rather silly.
Is the pith helmet being retconned as a proxy for the Maxim gun or the imperial flag?
Are we really saying that Africans, most of whom are in nations composed of ethnic groups with centuries of enmity between them are to turn into shrinking daisies at the sight of a 5′9 woman in a pith helmet and not at the sight of a Zulu in full war dress or Fulani Emir in procession etc?
I am an African who has lived and largely stayed in Africa; I am not offended by what Melania wore.
That rhetoric is not from African press !!!!! Since when have these international media been the best ambassadors and most relied upon predictors of African reactions.
..Okay, Melania wearing a white pith helmet, crisp white shirt and light brown jodhpurs made headlines; but in international media.
This is mere hate talk, originating from non Africans, and blinding us from seeing and discussing the beautiful things Melania did during her visit that touched hearts.
Africans rank very highly in friendliness, hospitality and social hapiness, it is not African to treat visitors like that.
Wearing pith helmets in Africa is not perceived to be racist by Africans within Africa. It is standard safari wear for many tourists in Africa. Use of international media to skew our response to Melania's visit is what should be condemned.
It is sickening how the WESTERN WHITE press puts words into the mouths of Africans.
Black African (or white or brown African) people just saw a gracious visitor who enjoyed herself and helped others. They don't see the pith helmet as a nazi symbol - but the liberals want them to think that
Liberals are the real racists and it is apparent that Africans aren't falling for it.
ALL DEMOCRATS ARE VILE, EVIL, VICIOUS, LYING DESTROYERS OF GOOD PEOPLE!!! SHUN THEM!
The people of Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Egypt, et al. can teach our media and the Left in this country a thing or two about grace and class. You can tell Melania was delighted by the people, who received her so warmly —and that she was enchanted by all the gorgeous sites she saw!
The author of this article is a flaming feminist of the worst kind!
‘Hadley Freeman’ writes.
“When I was 23 I had an abortion and Im so lucky I was somewhere that offered them safely and legally. For that reason and many more Im supporting the ‘global campaign’ to ensure abortion for all women everywhere is a reality.”
Starting in 2000, Freeman has occasionally written about her experiences with anorexia. She was treated in a psychiatric unit during six different periods between ages 13 and 17.
Her first book, The Meaning of Sunglasses: A Guide to (Almost) All Things Fashionable, was published in 2009.
She has said that her favourite film is the original Ghostbusters and that she has collected books and articles connected to the film.
In June of 2018, Freeman denounces the treatment of undocumented child immigrants arriving in America, specifically the holding cells that they may be detained in for up to three days and the forced separation from any undocumented adults they may have been travelling with, drawing parallels between these policies and her Grandmother's experience of escaping Nazi Germany during the Holocaust. Freeman concludes the opinion piece with a strong statement that these policies are due to deliberate targeted cruelty against children by the Trump administration, and a reflection a latent racism amongst the Americans that voted for Trump.

My Conclusion: She is a flaming Leftie, she hates Trump and has other personal problems.
Does not surprise me about the author. Thanks for calling attention to that detail of her past.
Just about everything she has done or said since being First Lady has been done and said with grace and class followed by criticism of critics. She is obviously as guilty by association as Trump is by action of dispatching the creature with the despicable personality of a water moccasin.

“Where is Andrea Dworkin when you need her ...”
Odds are good that she is right where she should be. She’s been there since 2005.
There, there, Hadley. Stay on your meds and quit watching those Indiana Jones movies! It’s upsetting you.
YOU NEED to TALK about it? Wouldn’t it be more fun to sing Grateful Dead songs while you idiots sit around smoking marijuana dreaming about communism and free sh*t?
No, Hadley, we don't need to talk about Melania Trumps "Out of Africa" wardrobe; that is a lie. We don't need to talk about a fraction of what those of you with access to media soapboxes insist "we" talk about. Had you written "I insist on browbeating anyone unfortunate enough to be exposed to my personal hatred for anyone and everything that I disagree with," you would have been accurate. You simply shout and make a fist from the sidelines as did your ideological predecessors fringing the Place de la Revolution, the Reichsparteitagsgelände and Krásnaya plóshchad.
Stir the cauldron with the others and reap your just reward, Hadley.
Mr. niteowl77
I had assumed that Melania’s wardrobe was selected to keep her comfortable in the areas where she was visiting, and to look good while doing it.
The left is so shallow.
Cat fight. Frumpy writer criticizing her better. Meow!
Hadley Freeman,dolt
So are Obama's tan suit and the Panama Hat...which is misnamed after one of America's greatest accomplishments of the early 20th Century, The Panama Canal.
He was a real character. He is credited with CREATING the IDF... they know him well
