Scott Kelly, a retired American astronaut with multiple space flights under his belt, apologized Sunday after quoting Winston Churchill and calling the 20th century British prime minister "one of the greatest leaders of modern times."
"Did not mean to offend by quoting Churchill. My apologies. I will go and educate myself further on his atrocities, racist views which I do not support. My point was we need to come together as one nation. We are all Americans. That should transcend partisan politics," Kelly wrote on Twitter in the evening.

Geez, what a pussy.
Kelly and his brother are bald idiots.
Anyone who would apologize for quoting the great and honorable Sir Winston Churchill is a wussy. He should be ashamed of himself.
Never, ever, EVER apologize!
He did make some generic racial and cultural comments. Churchill could not have been on our deacon board. Churchill did have the leadership that kept the Nazis from taking England. Perfect people get crucified. And heroes get vilified. It’s also some of his fault that Cuba kept their cigar sales going.
Wasnt Gallipoli his idea?
Churchill had balls. But the empire was a nasty business up until 1947.
But, Mary Poppins. So, we love the Brits.
I’ve never seen a Communist apologize for supporting Communist dictators.
Ever.
German armor in 43' was committed to Kursk where they were bled white.
Dieppe only involved about 6000 Canadian troops.
German defenses were actually much better prepared in Summer 44' than they were in Summer 43' although they had been reinforced after the Dieppe debacle.
Not to mention the Russians were bleeding them from the east.
I think the allies did a great job on the Nazis. The US was instrumental in getting the machines and bullets to Europe. But our lossesno matter how horrificpaled in comparison to the Eastern Front.
I presume you did not forget your sarc tag.
I am no history scholar, but considering that I read PT109 at the age of 10 and later endeavored to understand more about WWII than just mechanized warfare as a childhood hobby, your history is not aligned with what I read.
Rather, your history seems more aligned with the movie “Churchill” which I’ve never seen, but have read its reviews and choose to never view it.
Reviews which include The Churchill Project, by the way.

Two of the most prophetic comments in modern times.
Islam is colonizing the West with foreign funded mosques and vast re-settlement.
the majority of muslims in America are first generation immigrants. And they don’t see Nation of Islam to be anything other than a kooky black nationalist cult.
Islamic imperialism and Communist imperialism are never criticized.
Very nasty. The term 'Concentration Camp' comes from what they did to the Boers in South Africa in the 1900's.
Un-freaking-believable. How Obama-esque.
Turned in his man-card. I’ll forever see him as Astronaut Scott Gelding. Obviously was mistaken to have had the Right Stuff.
“Did not mean to offend by quoting Churchill. My apologies......... That should transcend partisan politics,”
these people are f***in’ stupid.
The Germans had little more than river barges to conduct a cross channel invasion in 1940. At least the balance of air power was in their favor at the time although it was slipping.
Britain was already out producing the Germans in pilots and aircraft when the war started in 1939.
By 1943 the Germans had little of a surface fleet left and it was in the Baltic and the Tirpitz in Norway.
They had fled in the 1942 'Channel Dash'.
Swiped from John Wayne.
“This Prime Minister Kills Fascism”
Meanwhile Commie Gutherie and Commie Seeger didn’t actually “support” the war effort until Pearl Harbor was attacked.
Pete Seeger even recorded songs against corporatists in America “pushing for war” against NAZI Germany.
This can't be repeated often enough! I've always thought he was an idiot but this proves it beyond any doubt!
Maybe a hole Kelly thinks Stalin was a better ally.
