McConnell can hold the vote open till he returns.

So it's okay for a lone senator to hold up the vital business of the entire country for his personal family business?

He should never have run for office if that's how his priorities line up.

He NEVER said he would miss the vote.

He never said he wouldn't, either.

That's what all the hysterics are about.

No GOP Senator should leave D.C. until Kavanaugh is CONFIRMED. No one.

Exactamundo.

Absolutely.

Politicians love to say they are serving our country, often try to make it seem as though what they do is similar to military service.

Nope. I agree with you. Senators should be willing to make sacrifices when it is for the good of the country. If not they are in the wrong job.

Plenty of service folks deployed who have to sacrifice significant family events. If it’s OK for them, then the same should apply for this senator.

I've been saying the same thing all night.

My dad was a 27 year lifer in the US Army. I can't tell you how many birthdays, graduations, football games, funerals, weddings, christenings, recitals, plays, and anniversaries he missed during those years.

You know what? No one in my family ever faulted him for it. It was his DUTY.

So apparently they will leave the vote open so Daines can vote when he returns.

Gonna put a cot in a back room for Pence.

We have the “beef” and the dems know it. They are flailing all over not knowing what to do next, except rage and hate.

I just checked. A Lear Jet has a top speed of about 535 mph. It’s 1600 miles to Billings. 3-4 hours with headwinds. Keep in mind that Montana is also 2 hours behind DC.

Should be lots of wiggle room.

Vote, leave, helicopter to Reagan National, fly, Helicopter to wedding.

It’s his daughter’s wedding, planned months, or possibly even longer, in advance of this vote, which is Feinstein’s fault. It makes the Democrats even more despicable.
Weddings are very expensive to reschedule.

I pray bad weather doesn’t impede the man’s mad dash home to walk his daughter down the aisle.

God how I hate Democrats.

“All the last minute terror over this was Daines’ fault. He should have made it CRYSTAL clear to the Senate and the country, that he was NOT going to be absent for the vote. “

ya think?

Truthfully, under these same circumstances I can’t imagine any of the Founding Fathers leaving town before voting to confirm a very important judge to the Supreme Court.

And I certainly think their daughters would understand and be supportive of that decision. Blood was shed and lives were lost to start this great country. A slight change in wedding plans would be a small price to pay.
