They can’t trust the vote count until all the votes are in. He can’t leave based on a promise from Flake or Manchin. The best he could do is be an hour away on a jet and if someone backstabs, he can turn around in the air and return. McConnell can figure out a way to hold the vote open.

I went in to QC over a concrete pour of the 17th floor of a Courthouse under construction and be there at 330AM to assure that every detail of the structure meets specification, there is NO ONE who could competently replace me , then I had to stay until 430PM to assure that the column rebar was completed to exacting engineering specifications many lives could be affected if I shirked

My knees hurt and I would like to rest them but I have duties that are a priority over my comfort and personal pleasure.

All over the USA , people are fullfilling commitments by prioritizing responsibly, If I was a US senator my priority would be my senate responsibility , my daughter would have to delay the wedding or go on without me, her choice
