What is Koppel talking about? CNN’s ratings ARE in the toilet NOW, precisely because all they do all day is present negative “news” about Trump.

He had on his close friend “from the NSA” on the Rush Limbaugh show in the months prior to the general election and this idiot said Trump was owned by the Russians and he knew this from unreleased information that was quite damning of Trump. I imagine that it was the dossier.
John said nothing against this and continued to have this guy on when subbing. I wrote Rush on 24/7 that this cr@p hole must be stopped from being a host.
To Rush’s credit, John was kicked off.

They obviously don’t care too much about the money. If they did.....if some adult were in charge who was more interesting in maximizing shareholder value at any of NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC or CNN he would do the following:
- for all but CNN, get out of New York City. Relocate to somewhere that is more representative of America like Chattanoga or Tulsa or Bozeman, Montana or any of a number of other places. I guarantee you the people you will meet there and the culture, worldview and political views they have are ONE HELL of a lot closer to the American mainstream than what you will find in New York City.
Hell, just announcing your network is moving to one of those places will effectively fire half your lefty staff right there since they can’t bear to live in “flyover country” as it doesn’t suit their delusional self image of being urbane sophisticates. The other half can be chit canned after you arrive at your new location. Hell, the network should openly tout its non NYC address. Most of America hates New York. The network could tout itself as the network for America rather than for the media elites. That would go down well with most of America.
- move to the right. Of the 6 major media organizations, only Newscorp is on the right. The other 5 are all bunched up on the left. There are more self identified conservatives than liberals in this country so why pray tell, is it a good strategy to fight with 4 others over that smaller slice of the pie while the larger slice ie the right exclusively belongs to Newscorp (Fox) with no competition at all? That makes ZERO business sense. You can IMMEDIATELY gain market share by moving to the right.
You could personally be as left wing as they come but the business logic of the two above listed steps can’t even be argued. The fact that 5 of them continue to compete with each other for less than half of the audience is a testament to a triumph of political ideology over any kind of business sense.
Welllll.... CNN’s ratings ARE in the toilet, but they would be doing even worse without POTUS Trump.
