A number of Republican senators received police escorts Tuesday afternoon to get them past demonstrators gathered in the basement of the Russell Building near the terminus of the Senate subway.
Among them were Republican members of the Judiciary Committee Sens. John Kennedy of Louisiana and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
In addition to uniformed Capitol Police, Graham was accompanied by the deputy sergeant at arms James Morhard.
At one point, protesters who said they were representing sexual abuse survivors started shouting at Graham in the Russell basement.
Morhard shouted back.
Im sorry, Im talking to him, alright?
Security Increases for Senate Judiciary Members as Tensions Heighten on the Hill
Walking through the tunnel, Graham told a small group of reporters that he had never seen anything quite like what he was now experiencing.
This is dangerous. I had somebody that wouldnt let an elevator shut. An Iraq War veteran. I appreciate his service, but I just have a different opinion of Judge Kavanaugh, Graham said. I tried to make that clear.

Specifically, REPUBLICAN members of the judiciary committee needed an escort.
Why were the police protesting???

I notice most of the female protestors are rather unattractive and very hairy. I’m beginning to think there is a positive correlation between female activists and the amount of facial hair including beards, mustaches, and certainly other places.
Someone should do a study on this.
Capitol Police and the Senate’s Sergeant-at-Arms should have face-slammed the protesters into a concrete floor/wall and the haul them off to jail for a jailhouse beatdown before they are hit with felony charges for threatening a Senator.
Time to redesign public space in the capitol. Letting these crazies roam free through the building is nuts. A large lobby and staffers admitting one at a time to an office for appointments only works in other venues. Public galleries in meeting areas need to be replaced with rooms containing monitors recording proceedings.
That was fake news.
Feminists are not feminine...................
Why is such an obvious security threat being ignored to allow these clowns to wander around the US Senate buildings?
Who is in charge of Senate Security and why have they not been fired?
Oh man. These people are evil.
to be fair. I’m not yet giving much credence to this. That could be anyone’s home. Why would there not be security with all that has been going on. Arent reporters camped at his home anyway. Until i see this verified..im not going to believe it. There is too much fake nonsense that runs through social media
Just what were the police protesting?
