During last Thursday's hearing, Republicans took a lot of heat for their decision to hire outside counsel, Arizona sex crimes prosecutor Rachel Mitchell, to question Christine Blasey Ford about her allegations that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in high school. At the time, Mitchell's slow and methodical line of questioning, interrupted in five minute intervals to turn over time to Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, looked like a mistake. Whether it was or not will long be debated, but the byproduct of Mitchell's questioning is a detailed nine-page memo that is quite damaging to Ford's case against Kavanaugh.
Why this is significant is that ever since Ford's allegations become public, there have been dozens of "fact checks" about the allegations. But as shown by this roundup from Poynter, those checks have been nearly exclusively an attempt to call Kavanaugh's honesty into question or to debunk claims about Ford. These checks have been extremely flawed, often inaccurately paraphrasing what Kavanaugh said, to set up a fact check contradicting him.

They don’t care, now they moved on to him being an alcoholic and a violent temper that is “unfit for the Supreme Court”.
Somebody needs to whip Flake, Collins and Murkowski in line.
She doesn’t have a case. It’s an allegation about behavior in high school 36 years ago. There is no legal case filed.
Exactly!
Three finer Democrats you won’t find...
Not exactly. More like Fords testimony was damaging to her case.

Republicans: just do the right thing! Vote!
Mitchell’s memo is very illuminating - Ffffford’s inconsistencies & holes in her story (and it WAS a story) were very obvious to someone who is a professional in the field.
Here are two threads from Margo Cleveland that further illuminate inconsistencies in her testimony & show how she changes her story every time it looks like Kavanaugh can refute her version .... very interesting.

It will be ignored because this isn’t a court of law.
Her fact-based report gives every Senator a clear basis to vote to confirm Kavanaugh.
I guess the other Senators needed the facts we already knew written down by a third party in order to confirm Kavanaugh.
Note well that Christine Blasey Ford does not know how she got to the house, a house she does not know where it was located. She does not know whose house it was. After she says she ran out of the house, she was a 20 minute ride from her house, but she does not know how she got there. She does not know who drove her home. This was a very rehearsed testimony. All of the above items would help substantiate her story were erased from her testimony, purposely, I contend. If she knew who drove her home, it would be a big one. If she knew who’s house it was or the address it would also be big. Notice that all of the items she cannot remember could prove that it did not happen if the parties were to be asked. Convenient! Was it on purpose so she did not perjure herself on anything that can be proved?
Right.
Mitchell got her to talk, and collected testimony. Something which had not really happened previously. The Democrats certainly didn’t ask illuminating questions.
Her report eliminates their excuses.
both worth a read and study them..very telling ford’s story moved with information that came out from whelan..among other things she changed dates..tied it to judges book summer 82...nice movie title..lol.
