With the Senate Judiciary Committee holding a vote at 9:30 A.M. tomorrow, a Senate insider has told Townhall that Kavanaugh has the votes to make it out of committee and the votes to be confirmed on the floor for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court. Sens. Flake (R-AZ), Collins (R-ME), Murkowski (R-AK), and Manchin (D-WV) are expected to vote in favor of Kavanaugh. All the Republicans are voting yes. Also, in the rumor mill, several Democrats may break ranks and back Kavanaugh. Thats the ball game, folks.
It was an intense and hellacious day at the Senate Judiciary Committee. Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing Judge Brett Kavanaugh of an attempted rape while at a high school party, told her story of her alleged sexual assault. It was intense. It was emotional. And it still lacked evidence, witnesses, and other corroborating details. Its an unprovable allegation, which is what Democrats want; it allows them to delay and run out the clock on this nomination. The FBI investigation talking point has been beaten to death by Senate Democrats, another delay tactic that has been undercut by past remarks by none other than Joe Biden. When he chaired the committee during the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings, Biden famously said that FBI reports are inconclusive and should not be relied on during sexual misconduct allegations.
Brett Kavanaugh testified later this afternoon, giving an emotional and fiery defense of his character and career after it had been under a sustained assault by the Left for over a week. Kavanaugh said that the allegationsall three of themwere false and have irreparably damaged his reputation and damaged his family life. He said this process had become a national disgrace, with Democrats replacing advise and consent with search and destroy. Kavanaugh needed to come out swinging. He needed to be tough. And he did just that.
I was thinking the same thing, Kavanagh is human like anyone of us. Do you think he will forget what these idiots did to him and his family. Professionalism aside I would make sure that I use this as a bench mark etched in stone in my decisions in the future when it come to these scumbags
Ditto.
I do like forward momentum. A few fence sitters will vote YES if it’s a done deal.
Ed Rollins was on Lou Dobbs’ show last night. He said a wealthy donor wrote a check for $1 mill after the hearing to pay for pro-Kav ads. Also said he’s come after any Republican that voted ‘no’ with his PAC to defeat them next election cycle.
“Ford can press actual criminal court charges even if he is confirmed. I would not put it pass them to doing just that.”
She can certainly press charges and thereby create a media firestorm. However, there is no physical proof and the accused is presumed innocent in criminal court until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Kavanaugh’s calendar, plus the testimony of the other people allegedly present at the time of the purported incident, is sufficient to show reasonable doubt. It is difficult to imagine even the most liberal prosecutor taking a criminal case involving a US Supreme Court justice to a court with no evidence of a crime.
I think Kavanaugh gets confirmed. Whether he will ever care again is the question. You could tell toward the end of it all yesterday he had a WTF attitude and was playing rather fast and loose with commie dem Senators. Anyone with cajones would.
Frozen body parts discovered in Kavanaugh basement freezer.
"From red wave to TIDAL wave."
Fortunately for us, the dems do what they do so often, they self destructed once again. They stuck by the DNC talking points so much so that it became obvious to all that the entire purpose of the hearings was to get Kavanaugh to agree to a huge delay for an FBI investigation.
It failed as the dems so often do. After all they are an incompetent bunch and no matter who backs them they always screw up and ultimately self-destruct.
Words to live by!
If Manchin is voting with the GOP on this, that’s ballgame. The squishy RINOs would be willing to break ranks if THEIR vote was able to kill the nomination but if Manchin is going to confirm, it won’t.
I’m so glad Traitor Bastard McCain doesn’t get a vote this time and his death has somehow released the spell he had on Graham. Had the old duo been there to vote no as a way to spite Trump, this becomes very shaky.
I also think the Dems did more this week to unite and energize Republican voters, in and out of DC, more than almost anything else could have done.
And then there is the KKK meeting and the "Buckwheat" Halloween costume.
Here’s how he could pick up some democrat votes.
Whenever he sits at the bench he should offer to wear Ford’s ‘pussy cat’ hat.
LOL....I like it.
Before yesterday he gave the appearance of always treating everyone with respect and honor. That all changed yesterday when he was unduly savaged. You don't forget that anytime soon.
Bigger question is will our momentum from yesterday carry over to Nov.?
Yes.
Graham has re-attached his balls after McCain died. Glad to see it.
Shockingly, Megyn Kelly over on NBC was Kavanaugh’s strongest defender yesterday among the talking heads. The Fox panel was terrible. Kelly stayed on course even right after Ford’s testimony.
Didn’t think Graham or Kelly would ever be the heroes of any day for Republican, but props to them.
Exactly the self destruction of the left yesterday will leave a lasting mark on Kavanaugh, impossible not to.
____________
You ma be right on that. That treatment he went through just may make him more "focused".
‘Bigger question is will our momentum from yesterday carry over to Nov.?’
Yep — it is the GOP’s to lose.
This was a lightning bolt.
Moments like this wake people up. It’s compelling and obvious.
More importantly, the Old Media has put its foot in its mouth yet again. And that affects everything — the media people trust is EVERYTHING in a democratic republic.
Fox was horrible. Brett Baier and Chris Wallace are unwatchable. Wallace’s first comments after the first break during Ford’s testimony was, “this is a disaster for the republicans”...and he said it with an enthusiasm matching that of the spittle-ejecting tingles-Matthews.
Then of course throw in Stirewalt and that was the fly on top of the manure pile. The only bright spot during Fox’s commentary was Martha MacCallum.
You could literally detect the disappointment in Baier’s
voice after Brett’s appearance.
I find myself turning off Fox more and more. I still enjoy the week night line up, but other than that....it’s getting bad.
Also important — yesterday brought renewed confidence and energy to republicans in Capitol Hill. Their blood is up.
And they can see things more clearly.
Even if somehow [God forbid!] something unexpected happens today, brains are active and emotions are surging.
