Brett Kavanaugh on Monday said he will "not be intimidated into withdrawing" his Supreme Court nomination after a second woman came forward with a sexual misconduct allegation against him.
Kavanaugh sent a letter on Monday to Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) the chairman and ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, respectively saying the accusations against him are "smears, pure and simple."
"They debase our public discourse. But they are also a threat to any man or woman who wishes to serve our country. Such grotesque and obvious character assassinationif allowed to succeedwill dissuade competent and good people of all political persuasions from service," Kavanaugh said in the letter to Grassley and Feinstein.
"I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process. The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out. The vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out. The last- minute character assassination will not succeed," Kavanaugh continued.

This is the showdown we’ve been waiting for. It will be a battle of wills.
Between now and Thurs, we have to pump Grassley full of Big Pharma’s cutting edge formulas....... to turn his gonads and spine into steel.
In case you haven’t seen it!!!
“Her (animus, or anus?) against Kavanaugh is understandable.....Kirsten likes men who play rough.”
There, made it more believable.
Yes. And then let him retire, the old fool.
Grassley is not the problem. The problem is Collins, Murkowski, Corker and Flake. Grassley is walking a tightrope here. If he takes a vote before hearing from Ford those 4 might vote no and then the whole nomination goes down. Even if just 2 vote no it goes down so he has to at least try and placate them by letting Ford testify. If hearing from her gets those four on board then I’m okay with it. After that, no more, I agree.
Is there somewhere we can send the Judge a message? His twitter account doesn’t look real.
“Kavanaugh is one heck of a man. Twice the man Grassley is.”

A little elbow grease, I’m unsure as to why you would refer to the comment as a childish opinion. For all practical reasons, Judge K does indeed address the situation in a much more assertive manner than the Senator. The Senator himself acknowledged looking indecisive...about all the rescheduling...

I guess I would understand your comment if you provided the specific reasons you considered the opinion ‘childish,’ and not just throwing out the label.
I just wrote the White House a lengthy letter.
McCain had Linda’s walnuts in his lockbox, but now that his gone he’s free as a nightingale to sing!
Judge Kavanaugh has proven himself to be the right Man for the Job. He stands and fights against overwhelming odds to preserve the Republic.
God Bless him and his Family for remaining strong against the Evil that is today's Democrat Party, the true enemies we face.
Hi, Cinnamontea. Please see my # 69 post. I did not think your opinion should have been called childish without a clear and specific reason. Otherwise, it’s just a label.
It is the only way forward at this point. I would have preferred that Judge Kavenaugh, having denied the allegation last Thursday, appeal to his reputation and his six prior investigations by the FBI, simply call the question. Because nothing could be clearer than that the Democrats can do Anita Hill antics until the cows come home. However, it does not change my opinion that the novelties of the 20th Century Senate confirmation procedures are fatally flawed. Before a century ago, SCOTUS nominees didnt do anything much to promote their confirmation other than, possibly (not sure) answer interrogatory written questions.
The candidates Trump has listed as people who would be considered for possible SCOTUS nominees should, IMHO, both support Brett Kavenaugh and protect themselves by putting the Senate on notice that none of them will, if nominated, accept (from the Senate or a committee thereof) any treatment unbecoming the dignity of a sitting SCOTUS justice during the confirmation process. They should pledge not to appear publicly (especially not on TV) with the president or any other government official and to make no public comment other than to accept the nomination, provisional on the Senate voting up or down on the confirmation before any televising of any senate deliberations on the confirmation. And they should pledge not to visit any senators before the confirmation vote, nor to participate in any senate hearing.
IOW, prompt confirmation vote based on the nominees record and the fact that the POTUS was elected partly because of his listing of the nominees name as a potential candidate. Or else withdrawal by the nominee, and back to square one with another nominee who will behave exactly the same way.
Maybe Kirsten should go back to doing what she does best... blackmailing the Pentagon. Maybe she can find another 30 year old mother of 2 to ramrod through Ranger training. What a joke of a congressman.
I dont know. I wish we could and that he would get a million messages of support. Maybe send them to the White House.
Grassley and McConnell are allowing that.It is about allowing them to destroy our process.
Ping to my #74 and its proposal for controlling that.

We need him on the Supreme Court, and at least four more like him. Thanks rktman.
>>>save your childish opinion<<<
You believe Senator Grassley could weather the storm that Judge Kavanaugh has been facing?
He couldn’t even get his good Friend and Colleague Senator Diane Feinstein to give him the unredacted Letter from Ford.
If Grassley had any balls, he would have immediately Sanctioned her for her last minute stunt, withholding information from the Committee for six weeks, and then called from her removal as the Ranking Member.
Grassley has come off as a doddering old fool. He has one last chance to redeem himself or he should just hand over the Committee Leadership to that F’n Moron Flake and be done with it...
