The Senate Judiciary Committee is postponing a high-stakes hearing set for early next week on the sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
The committee announced on Friday that the Monday hearing — where both Kavanaugh and his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, had been invited to speak — was being called off.
Instead, Grassley said in a statement Friday that he is giving Ford’s lawyers until 10 p.m. on Friday to respond to the GOP request for her to testify on Wednesday. If they do not, or if Ford declines to testify, Grassley said the Judiciary Committee will vote Monday on Kavanaugh's nomination.

I have theorized for 3 days that Ford is too unstable to put in front of the cameras in live testimony--so let's end the freaking farce and get to the vote.

Precisely my point. Thank you. Major corporations save thousands of dollars a year through teleconferencing. Time for the gvt to play catch up. I’m very in favor of Congress meeting through teleconferencing. Have Congress in Washington maybe two months out of the year. The other ten months they can teleconference. All sorts of advantages. And saves bunches of our taxpayer dollars as well.
Wouldn’t she have to come to MD personally? She could have an attorney file a civil suit for her. But other than that she would have to show up personally to generate a criminal complaint, would she not?

The vote was scheduled for Thursday.
She said she couldn’t appear until Thursday, trying to push the vote into next week.
Hearing offer for Wednesday. If she accepts and if she appears, vote can still be held Thursday, or even Friday.
If she does not accept in time, Vote will probably be held Monday.....or any day of the week.
Kavanaugh WILL BE confirmed. I think there might be a couple Democrat votes for him too.

According to Horowitz, there has to be actual attempt at ‘penetration’ as it were to be considered attempted rape. Other than that, we are talking misdemeanor. Of course she can also change her story, but she still would need to convince a prosecutor.

They have until 10pm Eastern today, almost another hour from now, to respond and agree for her to testify.
Good that the Republicans gave her this final deadline, and if they don’t respond, then hold the vote on Monday.
I disagree. Grassley and repubs will fold again and vote won’t happen in time for October session. She’ll show up at last minute and Collins, Corker and Flake will back out of support.
The Dems are now facing trial in the court of public opinion.
