After the nation was riveted by the Senate testimony of Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas, the Supreme Court nomination came to a vote. Democrats controlled the Senate. Joe Biden had chaired the hearings.
And yet Thomas was confirmed, with 11 Democrats joining 41 Republicans to provide the margin of victory (and two Republicans voting against him).
That would be inconceivable today. The hyperpartisan nature of todays politics would never allow so many Democrats to defect in favor of a Republican president's nominee, one who was not only extremely conservative but had faced a last-minute accusation of sexual harassment.

I figured that's intimidation.
“She was expected to sink Kavanaugh with just the accusation.”
Yep.
Shes been balking all her life.
Probably the same letter. Hence the redactions.
So, a public figure falsely accused has no recourse?
I loved it when Paul Simon said... I take it you watched her testimony.
and Justice Thomas said... I did not.
Took the sail right from Simon. lol.
I was so young then, and it still made me LMAO.
Hey there girl from Kansas.
That was a pretty insulting post you made above.
Do you want to be treated the same way even thoghu you are an anaonymous ladyboy from Kansas?
Ask Feinstein point blank (preferably under oath, though we know that means way less to RATs) if that is true.
Is it just me, are other people tired of articles that have a headline and don’t reach that point until they explore ten other topics? This article is that Ford’s opposition loses steam. Why am I reading first about Clarence Thomas and the history of his confirmation?
Ok, Missy, name me some names.
You mean their smear campaign has backfired?
Apart from that, voting for Kavanaugh should be a cinch.
The is whole Kavanaugh thing is important. I do not believe that it happened as it has been told. BUT if it did, are we to assume that Justice Kavanaugh has not learned anything in 35 years. If it did happen, is it not possible that it is a thread in his life that taught him a lesson in respect and compassion, that has actually made him a better man?
Maybe not a good analogy, but when I was in first grade, my friend and I would watch the three stooges on TV and we thought is was hilarious. In some scenes, they would poke each other in the eye and we thought that was funny. One day I thought it would be funny to poke my friend in the eye as we had seen. It really hurt him. I learned “don’t do that”.
In the same way, some of the most vicious anti-smokers, are former smokers.
Ya have to know where you’ve been, to know where you are going.
I hope he get confirmed soon. It is a terrible thing the Democrats have done to orchestrate this.
Did you see his accuser? It’s a man! Yeah baby! She looks like first place in a Rachel madcow contest.
Waste of time. Impossible to prove or disprove, and a jury in the Bay Area where she lives would more likely vote for her whatever evidence or lack thereof there was. I do think this is going to backfire in the elections though. Most Americans will see it as unfair to Kavanaugh.
Easy solution:
Stuff Kavanaugh into a burlap sack and toss him in the water.
If he drowns, hes innocent. If he floats, hes guilty.
You sure you aren’t talking about her lawyer?
Time to vote and Ford can live the rest of her life in disgrace. She is a pathetic human being.
I don’t know, i thought it was her.
Schumer, blumenthal, Warner... all of these these rats better hope their very own me too doesnt come out of the woodwork after them.
