What a terrible price there is to pay for a judge who naively questions whether unelected bureaucrats should have the final say on what the law means to the rights and livelihoods of their subjects.
Mother Jones recently sounded the alarm that Brett Kavanaugh threatens the power of unelected “agencies to implement rules and regulations, even when the statutes—often vague—do not obviously call for them, or when judges would have personally interpreted the law differently.” You see, these agencies have “expertise on the complex issues they regulate, are better positioned” than judges or lawmakers to “create workable rules.”

I have wonder why McConnell didn’t go full Uniparty on that one. It is one of the rare moments when I supported him...he may have saved America from a GREAT amount of lost liberty and I don’t think I am overplaying that situation. That doesn’t mean he’s awesome or that he is a #NeverTrumper at his core, but ya gotta give props when due.
From what I’ve read, McConnell and the GOP leadership have been consistent on the U.S. Supreme Court because SC nominations are the one issue that polls very strongly across almost every subset of the Republican coalition — CEOs, small business owners, legal/academic conservatives, gun owners, people with strong religious influences, etc.
I think Trump was smart enough to realize that they would try to gut whoever he put out as nominee, and picked Brett VERY carefully as the person most likely to survive the attacks.
I also think Trump is planning on Clarence Thomas retiring soon, and for the Democrats to do their dirty tricks on whoever he picks for THAT spot.
The game will be to get the American people so jaded over Democrat games, that when RBG’s time comes, people will just yawn over the accusations of having kept teen girls chained up in his basement.

Accusing Kavanaugh of sexual assault was supposed to rattle President Trump. It didn’t work, so now they are coming out of the woodwork like the roaches they are.
