Judge Brett Kavanaugh said Monday he is willing to talk to Congress to defend himself against startling allegations of attempted sexual assault in high school — and vehemently denied every part of the accusation.
The allegations were made by Christine Blasey Ford, a California professor who as a high school student in the 1980s knew the judge and says he attempted to force himself on her at a party.
The accusation has upended Republicans’ push for quick confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. The Judiciary Committee was slated to vote on Thursday, but Democrats and one key Republican have said that can’t happen until the Senate can learn more.
Ms. Ford’s lawyer says she is willing to appear to testify — though it’s not clear what setting she is willing to appear for.
Judge Kavanaugh, in a statement released by the White House, said he, too, is willing to clear things up — though he didn’t use the word “testify.”

It’s only “upended” if Grassley lets it be. Hold the call or whatever. Kellyanne is saying they should let her testify. THEY HAD ALMOST THREE WEEKS TO BRING THIS UP! If they put her before a committee it will allow Fartacus and The Ugandan Giant to figuratively throw feces at Kavanaugh and all republicans while she cries on the stand and it’ll be played 24/7 on PMSNBC and CNN on a loop. Let them have their phone call behind closed doors or an ambassadorship or whatever it is that Flake wants but THEN GET ON WITH THE VOTE AS SCHEDULED!

I saw that and if true the Dems on that committee had better zip their lips and make the vote as scheduled or make bigger fools of themselves.
The vote should be made on Thursday as scheduled either way though.
True, but they didn’t lose the house. Chrissy Blowsey’s mother (as a judge) ruled to allow them to keep the house after some arrangements had been made to make payments .

I was in the same class as “Chrissie” Blasey (1984). She went to Holton Arms–the sister school to my school, Landon School for Boys. She was well known for her sexual escapades, some of them quite disturbing.... Like the famous “bj” car where in the back of a darkened station wagon she .... on multiple young men. Or the time she took on most of the football team. Her nickname was Chrissie Blowsey–
I’ll leave it at that. She was also a very manipulative and vindictive person. So we all need to take her allegations with more than a grain of salt. she was a knock-down, drag-out slut all through High School. I know–I was there, graduated in the same Class of 1984. So how can we trust her?

And the accuser has no other contemporary witnesses.
It really does not matter whether it occurred or not. Not now.
Let her speak, then vote to confirm.
On the one hand, I don't entirely disagree.

Agreed, take the vote as scheduled.
A more sensible way to handle this would be to ask Ms. Ford for all corroborating evidence that supports her claim, such as police reports, other witness testimony, and other evidence that was kept from the time it happened. If this evidence cannot be presented, then her claim should be dismissed as unprovable.
As it is, I think the Democrats would love nothing more than to make the GOP senators look like mean old men.
My feeling is that the girl knew Kavanaugh in high school, and has been waiting for the right moment to smear him, and here it is.
Oh, nobody with a vestige of sense would believe a word she said. It’s just that she’d have to say things that could be checked and disproven, then comes the perjury charge.
