California Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday said his state will launch its own satellite in a bid to combat climate change, following up on a promise he made after the election of President Trump.
“We’re going to launch our own satellite — our own damn satellite to figure out where the pollution is and how we’re going to end it,” Brown told the audience at the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco.
The Golden State will work with San Francisco-based Planet Labs to launch a satellite that would track climate-change-causing pollutants. The company has already launched 150 satellites, Brown said.
“In California, with science under attack, in fact we’re under attack by a lot of people, including Donald Trump, but the climate threat still keeps growing,” Brown added. “So, we want to know, what the hell is going on all over the world, all the time?”
The outgoing governor, who will leave at the end of the year and will be replaced by Democrat Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom or Republican businessman John Cox, didn’t divulge any how much it will cost the state to undergo a space-related project that is generally done by the federal government.

This satellite could be like Sputnik, nothing but a transmitter, and you just know that the folks that run it will say it verifies “scientifically” everything they ever had to say about Global Warming.
Frankly, they should just save their money, and say they have a satellite. We already know what the data will “show”.
The pollution was coming from China. It’s being reduced as a trade war for more favorable trade deals goes on. And it’ll only cost a fraction of Moonbeams choo-choo to nowhere.
Wait till they find its main source is all the hot air coming out of Sacramento.
Just to be abundantly clear, Brown is saying that NASA under Trump is politicized, and their data can not be trusted. But NASA under previous administrations was never politicized, and you could trust everything they had to say.
I predict that they will discover the greatest man-made pollution area is over LA. Then we will hear nothing more.
But can he launch a satellite using reusable energy? It would be hypocritical not to.
So now they will just make up their own data. They may as well climate change comes from lower taxes, fewer regulations and guns. Save the trouble of launching a satellite.
Precisely my question. Is he going to build an Estes rocket and launch it from his back yard? He is clueless.

Something will happen with this satellite, and it’ll end up falling back down to Earth...hitting some multi-million condo building in San Francisco and triggering a one trillion-dollar payout to the occupants and survivors.
