Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, is working to set up separate phone calls with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, before a committee vote scheduled for Thursday.
"Given the late addendum to the background file and revelations of Dr. Fords identity, Chairman Grassley is actively working to set up such follow-up calls with Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford ahead of Thursdays scheduled vote," a spokesman for Grassley said on Sunday.
The aide added that "the Chairman and Ranking Member routinely hold bipartisan staff calls with nominees when updates are made to nominees background files."
The announcement comes after Ford spoke publicly about her accusation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in the early 1980s, while they were both in high school, in an interview with The Washington Post published on Sunday.
Ford, in the interview, alleged that Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed at a party and forced himself on her. Ford told the Post that Kavanaugh "groped her over her clothes, grinding his body against hers and clumsily attempting to pull off her one-piece bathing suit and the clothing she wore over it."

He is no/maybe right now.
Honestly, I think he wanted to be a no all along.
They might have even talked to her during one of his many background checks..
I know they dig deep into your past.
Wrong move. They should just say “BS. There was PLENTY of chances to bring this out in the CORRECT way. This is a political stunt. We will vote now.”
Dr. Fraud, damn autocorrect
What evidence do you give that the Demonrats (Flake) will not stop the vote before Thursday?
Time for a new party?
No. Forget the parties. They are both scamming degenerated do-nothings, populated by sociopaths.
It’s really time for a hot civil war.
because ...
THAT. IS. THE. ONLY. WAY. THIS. SH*T STOPS.
I don’t know. I don’t trust Grassley. He has been squidgy in the past.
Expose the lying b*tch.
Tar n feather her lying leftist a$$.
Then run her out of town on a rail - literally.
This effing bullsh*t needs to stop - or a civil war will soon revisit this continent.
Im wondering how do you try to pull off both clothes and a swimsuit underneath, without removing any clothes?
Exactly! Bringing up something that supposedly happened 35 years ago? This is outrageous and Feinstein should be called on the carpet. What is wrong with Grassley that he would even think of interviewing this phony from the past?
Re: obligation to report sexual abuse.
No, she was an adult in 2012. That appears to be the first treatment event.
The dates and ages are unclear, but see no indication of child abuse. No report mandated; could not breach her confidence.
I wonder if Flake is as stupid as he appears, or if this is all part of a plan.
I don’t blame him for interviewing her. The FBI added her accusation letter to their Kavanaugh file but took no further action on it, so he probably has to go through some formality of a query about it.
Let me be more clear, providers do not have a duty to report any and all sexual abuse or crimes, etc. We are mandated to report in specific LIMITED situations, have a few allowances when there are clear dangers, and generally prohibited from disclosing.
Therapy requires trust. No one talks openly when they worry about trust being violated.
Democrats looking to delay vote and drag issue into Midterm elections. Republicans need to move quickly and confirm.
Not enough evidence given in accusation to substantiate. Delaying a vote only hurts republicans in November which is the goal.
Disagree only in the area of the evaluations.
She does not use her married name professionally.
Apparently, the evaluations are of a different professor at a different university.
Incest... the game the whole Democratic Party / Media Complex can play:
Rosenberg and Nass fed misinfo to “journalist” Nicholas Kristof about Stephan Hatfill in the botched anthrax case.
Kristof also shares a source with the Bush Air Nat’l Guard forgery case’s Kitty Kelly... they both used Yoshi Tsurumi.
Look What Kitty Dragged In
Weekly Standard ^ | 09/15/2004 | Matthew Continetti
WHAT DO New York Times columnist Nicholas D. Kristof and tabloid biographer Kitty Kelley have in common? They share a source.
Not that Kristof admits it, of course. In his September 15 column, the Pulitzer Prize winner tells the dramatic story of Yoshi Tsurumi, who taught President Bush at Harvard Business school. What you won’t find in the column is any mention of the fact that Kitty Kelley broke the Tsurumi story in her new book, The Family....
GOP Senators are such losers!
In her letter she claims to be wearing a Bathing suit. OK, so the house either had a pool, or what, she was going to take baths with the four boys? A house in Maryland next to the golf course with a pool...shouldn’t be hard to find?
