Corker: Kavanaugh accuser should be heard out before panel votes
The Hill ^ | 09/16/18 | Morgan Gstalter

Posted on 09/16/2018 6:34:45 PM PDT by yesthatjallen

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) called for the vote on Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court to be postponed until the woman accusing him of sexual assault be allowed to speak with senators on the Judiciary Committee.

Corker, who doesn't sit on the committee, told Politico on Sunday that the panel should wait until Christine Blasey Ford can meet with senators.

"I think that would be best for all involved, including the nominee,” Corker said of postponing the vote.

If Ford wants her side of the story to be heard, Corker said, “she should do so promptly.”

Corker’s remarks echo those of his fellow Republican colleague Sen. Jeff Flake (Ariz.).

Flake, who is a member of the committee, said Sunday that he is “not comfortable voting yes” until he hears from Ford.

"And I don't think I'm alone in this,” he added.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said he was skeptical about the timing of the new allegations against Kavanaugh but expressed a willingness to hear from Ford.

"If [Christine Blasey] Ford wishes to provide information to the committee, I would gladly listen to what she has to say and compare that against all other information we have received about Judge Kavanaugh," Graham said in a statement.

"If the committee is to hear from Ms. Ford, it should be done immediately so the process can continue as scheduled," added Graham, a member of the Judiciary Committee.

Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said is working to set up separate phone calls with Kavanaugh and Ford before the vote.

"Given the late addendum to the background file and revelations of Dr. Ford’s identity, Chairman Grassley is actively working to set up such follow-up calls with Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford ahead of Thursday’s scheduled vote," a spokesman for Grassley said on Sunday.

Several Democratic members of the committee as well as Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) have called on the Senate to postpone the vote, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday.

“I support Mrs. Ford’s decision to share her story, and now that she has, it is in the hands of the FBI to conduct an investigation. This should happen before the Senate moves forward on this nominee," Sen. Dianne Feinstein(D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the committee, said Sunday.

Ford, California psychology professor, spoke to The Washington Post on Sunday and detailed her allegations against Kavanaugh for the first time publicly.

The now 51-year-old professor at Palo Alto University in California described an incident between her and Kavanaugh when the pair were in high school.

She alleges that Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed one summer in the 1980s and forced himself on her.

Kavanaugh denied the allegation "categorically and unequivocally" on Friday.

so why are we allowing an alleged allegation about an act done as a minor to be heard?

Because a Democrat is accusing a Republican. That's it.

Why do you assume that this lying bitch is telling the truth?

If he admits to charges of rape, as you are suggesting, he will obviously not be confirmed and his career as a judge will be over.

What Corker and Flake are saying is meaningless,

Actually, at this point, giving her speak is necessary for appearances sake. If they don’t, then we all know what the narrative will be [well, it will be that anyway, but it will be more compelling].

Letting her tell her story commits no one to anything and probably won’t change a damn thing. I have a feeling the vote will proceed as scheduled.

Feinstein had since early summer but now springs into frantic action to hold up the hearings? BS.

Could it be a secret plan to sabotage and DELAY the hearings to go into the impeachment days ahead? That would be a conspiracy. Not to Corker or Flake. Looks okay to them.

Memo to the USA: The 62,979,936 Americans who voted for Trump in 2016 are NOT amused. We will NOT sit still and shrug like the old days. It’s a war now.

If he admits to charges of rape, as you are suggesting, ...

Where did that nonsense come from? She isn't even alleging rape.

Such crass hypocrisy.

DNC #2 man assaults girlfriend, 9-1-1 call reports exist... aaand!

(crickets)

By the way, he’s the candidate for Minnesota’s Attorney General. But shucks, he’s not going to make any moves to harm womenfolk, amiright?!

Need a refresher? Here’s a summary of how the ‘rats turn blind eyes, when the *correct* minority faces domestic violence accusations:

She wasn’t raped, and she doesn’t claim she was.

She got groped by a 17 year old normal boy in an ambiguous social situation.

My point is, whether he did this or didn’t do it is of no significance to any normal person.

If Trump is impeached, it will happen in 48 hours or less (not from now, from the time that Ryan pulls the trigger, as he has been programmed to do since January 2017).

They will not allow Trump hearings in the House, nor a trial in the Senate.

Each House will hold “emergency” votes, and it will be all over in a flash.

Great idea! While we’re at it, let’s call the DNC #2 to testify about domestic violence allegations which brought on 9-1-1 calls!

I’m sure the DEM candidate for Minnesota’s Attorney General job would happily come in to tell everyone how he treats women.

(If you haven’t guessed, people need to talk some more about someone running for the top law enforcement job in a state, who has 9-1-1 call records due to domestic violence allegations, than someone who did (or didn’t do) stupid stuff at age 17.)

Well...you don’t have to be brilliant to hand douchebags like Corker and Flake some ammunition to lob at a large standing target.

>>>My point is, whether he did this or didn't do it is of no significance to any normal person<<<

We are not dealing with “normal” people, we are dealing with Democrats, RINO&rsquo's, Never Trumpers and a Leftist Media who have been hoping and praying that something like this would magically appear.

I have to hand it to the Rats, they set this up like a Pro Volleyball Player sets up the Spike for their Teammate.

Everybody asked why Feinstein held on to this since July. The answer is obvious. POTUS Trump would have simply picked another Nominee if this information was known at the time, true or not.

The GOP and Conservative Commentators who ran with the idea that an Anonymous Accuser cannot be trusted were Punked, it's as simple as that. The Rats knew all along that the Identity of the Woman would come out and she would be more than willing to come Public with her Accusations.

The seriousness of the charges, proven or not, is all that matters. The Woman is already a sympathetic figure, and when she is questioned about the veracity of her claims by the Republicans, they will look like Misogynistic Bullies.
Now everybody here can accuse me of being Morning Joe's Clone because I am talking about the Reality we face. This is going to be one hell of a week, for Judge Kavanaugh and everybody who supports him.

Now tell me why I should vote for the filthy GOP ever again?

Because for the moment it is the only means of defeating the Socialist Democrats and the hard core that will follow them.

Feinstein sat on this for months and without any regard at all to whether it is true or not presents it when it will do the most harm. The record shows the accuser is a Dem political activist who, if she wanted her story heard, should not have sat on it for decades and then sent it anonymously. That she did makes her story appear as a convenient fabrication.

If you don't vote R you/we will just get more of this uncivil, even treacherous behavior from our government.
