The FReeper Canteen Presents....
~Constitution Day, September 17, 1787~
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Canteen Mission Statement
Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
The Federal Convention convened in the State House (Independence Hall) in Philadelphia on May 14, 1787, to revise the Articles of Confederation. Because the delegations from only two states were at first present, the members adjourned from day to day until a quorum of seven states was obtained on May 25. Through discussion and debate it became clear by mid-June that, rather than amend the existing Articles, the Convention would draft an entirely new frame of government. All through the summer, in closed sessions, the delegates debated, and redrafted the articles of the new Constitution. Among the chief points at issue were how much power to allow the central government, how many representatives in Congress to allow each state, and how these representatives should be elected--directly by the people or by the state legislators. The work of many minds, the Constitution stands as a model of cooperative statesmanship and the art of compromise.

Legacies of Love
September 17, 2018
Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
I was paging through my great-grandmothers Bible when a treasure fell into my lap. On a small scrap of paper, in a young childs handwriting, were the words, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted (Matthew 5:34 kjv). Scribbled beside those verses in wobbly cursive was my mothers signature.
My great-grandmother had a habit of teaching her grandchildren to write out Scripture verses so they would learn them and take them to heart. But the story behind this verse brought tears to my eyes. My grandfather died when my mother was very young, and her little brother (my uncle) died just weeks later. It was in that tragic season that my great-grandmother pointed my mother to Jesus and the comfort only He can give.
Paul wrote Timothy, I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also (2 Timothy 1:5). Faith isnt inherited, but it is shared. Timothys mother and grandmother shared their faith with him, and he believed.
When we encourage those close to us to have hope in Jesus, we offer them a legacy of love. Through a simple note, my mother left evidence of my great-grandmothers love for her Savior and her family. Oh, to share Him with those who come after us!
Thank You for those who shared Your love with me, Father. Please help me to point others to Your salvation today.
When we share our faith, we share the greatest treasure of all.
The family language used in 2 Timothy 1:15 is hard to miss. In addition to the reference to God the Father (v. 2), other family terms are used. Paul refers to Timothy as my dear son (v. 2). The word translated son can refer to literal or spiritual offspring, the latter being the case here. Paul was a spiritual father who had invested in Timothys ministerial training and development. The family term in verse 3 is the word ancestors, and it refers to those from whom Paul had inherited a legacy of faith. Paul had spiritual roots (see Acts 22:13; 23:6; Philippians 3:57).
Timothys connection to his mother, Eunice, and his grandmother Lois was not just biological. His sincere faith had been nurtured by these godly women. Because of the influence of these family members, Paul could write in 2 Timothy 3:1415: But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
What kind of spiritual roots are you leaving for those who will follow you?

Interesting that you should mention the sharks.
Off Cape Cod, there are several waterless islands that aren’t good for much except fur seals.
Now that fur seals are protected, they have multiplied.
Voila...A Great White Shark Snack Bar!
I took Penny for a hike at a new place today, and the dew soaked my hiking shoes right through (Cool nights, sunny days). I prefer woodland trails to grassy meadows for this reason!
After coming home and changing my shoes and socks, I ventured forth on Blue to Bourne National Cemetery (Part of the Arlington Cemetery) to visit the graves of my Mom and Dad. I took all back roads, and it was a lovely ride till I got to Cape Cod and crossed the bridge. I could see the infamous Cape traffic building up on the bridge coming back and knew that if I went all the way to the cemetery I might not be able to get home until really late. So I “banged a Yewie” and headed home by a different route. Once I got off the bridge and headed home, the roads were lovely again. I even did a little highway riding and pushed Blue`up to 80 to blow the carbon out of her cylinders. It’s been a while since i did that, and I think she enjoyed it.
I sure did.

Hey, radu!
It was a good day but we didnt do much. I didnt get much sleep last night so my energy level was pretty low. Just hung out with the kids here at the house. Well see pretty sights probably starting tomorrow, but the mountains are all around and I saw them when I went for a walk on the path behind the apartments.
