Watching Fox News. Just had a live interview with Rick Leventhal in Wilmington. Has video of looters (the usual perp types) at a Family Dollar and someone yelled at him "where are the police? Our taxes pay for them?." Leventhal contacted the police and they responded back that it was a "management decision" not to respond (their response was shown on the story)

The headline was mine. When I first posted the story I took management to be the Wilmington PD. The way the Tweet reads, “management” could be either and I found it incomprehensible that an owner of a private business would just let it happen and tell police to stay away.

At the Family Dollar or elsewhere where looting was occuring? If the former definitely, a change in policy from earlier this afternoon.

I would make a terrible cop with my hearing problems:
“But Chief, I’m sure I heard you say ‘Put ‘em down’!”

I know a woman and her adult daughter who live on the Northeast coast of Florida.
Last year, the hurricane was predicted to hit the East Coast of Florida. Instead, it hammered Key West and then came ashore, weaker, on the West Coast of Florida, near Naples.
Meanwhile, this woman and her daughter evacuated to Tennessee. Not sure why they went there; they made have had relatives in that state.
There was little if any damage in Northeast Florida, but when they came home they discovered that one or more criminals had broken into their home and stole jewelry, electronics, etc.
Like you said, no wonder people don’t want to leave.

Darn typos...should have said, “...they MAY have had relatives in that state.”

If true you wont find people evacuating for the next storm.
You are so right. One more of many nails in the coffin of the trust people used to have for public officials.
And the "it's not safe to go back yet" is complete bull patties. The looters don't seem to be in any danger, especially from the police!

I can understand why Family Dollar didnt want anything done
First it would tie up the police who had other concerns. And equally as important the optics of it might be really awful. This way they can turn it to their benefit

Things are sooo upside down guess better to mind our own Business.

I did not read it as a stand down order from higher up’s. I read as store management saying don’t do anything, we have to deal with those ferals day in and day out.
It is a very poorly written article.

our side has to obey the law. Their side gets off and guests on the View.
White privege get dictates that you must obey the law. LeBaron James could loot and it would be ok. But Joe Schmoe the plumber would be arrested, if not shot if he did the same.
