The Weather Channel voiced support for one of its reporters on Friday after a video of him reporting during Hurricane Florence went viral online.
The video clip posted to Twitter appeared to mock the reporter's hurricane coverage, suggesting he was exaggerating the storm's force.
The video shows longtime Weather Channel meteorologist and reporter Mike Seidel as he tried to gain his footing as the storm's winds bore down on him.
"This is about as nasty as its been," Seidel, who was reporting from Wilmington, N.C., says in the clip while bracing against the wind.
The camera then pans over to a pair of figures casually walking on a road behind the reporter.
So dramatic! one Twitter user wrote with the video clip. Dude from the weather channel bracing for his life, as 2 dudes just stroll past.
The video had been viewed more than 3.6 million times and had received almost 60,000 retweets as of Friday evening. It also led many people to mock the reporter for his demeanor reporting on the storm.
The Weather Channel noted in a statement to The Hill that the reporter was standing on wet grass and was undoubtedly exhausted.
Its important to note that the two individuals in the background are walking on concrete, and Mike Seidel is trying to maintain his footing on wet grass, after reporting on-air until 1:00 a.m. ET this morning and is undoubtedly exhausted, the network said.
Hurricane Florence made landfall on Friday morning near Wrightsville Beach, N.C., according to the National Hurricane Center. Florence was downgraded to a Category 1 storm and further downgraded to a tropic storm on Friday evening.
Still, officials have continued to urge residents to heed local evacuation orders and have preparations for the storm.
Several deaths linked to the storm have been reported, including a mother and infant who police in Wilmington said were killed when a tree fell on their house.
The weather channel’s female on air personalities all seem to get pregnant. Watch for the baby bump.
I watched one of the guys on Thursday in Morehead NC, he did this for about 5 hours. It was interesting for about 30 seconds. But no, he had his helmet on, and his Lands End attire, and literally did his spartacus moment for about 5 hours.
Or the oh-so-serious reporter babbling away about the hurricane while various guys in the background pranced around.
That is a keeper
Up until March of this year, The Weather Channel was owned in part by those wonderful folks who brought you this GIF.
Also, exploding pickup trucks.
Dorf Goes Stormchasing.
That ranks right up there with “the dog ate my homework”.

And it’s 1 am ET and it’s obviously daylight.....Apparently the sun forgot to set that day.
Classic.
Another one of the Nothing But Crap networks ...
No it does not make sense if you think about it for a few seconds. Been there done that grass or concrete makes no difference in high winds ... and he was bracing WITH the wind not against it ... just an overly dramatic bit of acting to bolster the weather hype so prevalent these days as otherwise useless weather men (sic) try to become relevant enough to sell some products.
The response from the Weather Channel was just a lame attempt to cover their fakery.
another weather whore. I love watching these prima donnas try and out do one-another during every storm. Jim Cantore and Stephanie Abrams are full of S%$#. Total drama queens who try and outdo each-other every time they are on TV.....quite the comedy duo.
I saw the same kind of drama-queen on Foxnews, standing with his legs spread wide to report strong winds and claiming “the dock behind me will no longer exist after the hurricane passes”.
The presstitudes is so disgusting I lack words to describe their dishonnesty and indecency.
I remember during one of these storms a reporter in a boat when in the back ground a person is walking in boots, funny!
Ya beat me to it.....that was hilarious!
